@gamehawk @catonano And I guess that's why I didn't bother to be clearer about Trump's statement originally. I was called out on being imprecise by someone I respect though, and that made me question if I should have worded things differently.

Even if they're criminals, calling them animals is wrong anyway

    They are still human beings

Dehumanization is dehumanization even when applied to a smaller group

@catonano yes exactly. It's paving the way for human rights abuses.

I stand by calling it out as something to be alarmed by, but I agree I could have phrased the original post better.

I should clarify, since it's pointed out elsewhere that I did a bad job summarizing this: https://twitter.com/sandhawke/status/999301442165932032

Trump didn't say all immigrants were animals, but directly called MS-13 members "animals" and "vicious animals". This comment doesn't necessarily apply to all immigrants one could say, however it's been Trump's modus operandi to paint immigrants and entire ethnic groups under the guise of criminals, and I think there was a strong implication of this.

@cwebber I've been alarmed for a solid two years now. It's exhausting. That's surely part of their strategy, shifting the Overton window by attrition. What are they trying to shift it to? Authoritarianism. 45's fondness for it is clear.

You're not going to get less resources consumed with more efficient computers with proof of work mining, because the point of proof of work mining is to add scarcity through a constrained resource. So as efficiency goes up, the cost of proof of work mining will likewise go up.

Tell Congress to Reinstate the Open Internet Order
In December, the FCC voted to roll back the Open Internet Order, giving Internet service providers free rein to engage in unfair data discrimination practices. But it’s not too late: Congress can still save the existing net neutrality rules.
