I think this is the only social network I've been on where (at least some of the) women feel so safe about expressing their sexuality without fear of repercussions that they openly post nude selfies.

Not calling the site that hosts audio files "LoudCloud" was a missed opportunity if you ask me.

That analogy with the baby is so very true of software development in general, and true of so many other things too.

Least favourite part of Mastodon is still the name. It's awkward to say it. I don't know what to do with the O's. Mast-oh-done? Mast'd'n? Mast'done? Also, it sounds vaguely autoerotic. If Mammoth wasn't already such a popular name, it would've been the better name IMHO. But here we are. Gotta make the best of it.

@nloadholtes I proposed Mastodonians as the answer to this just a few minutes ago. Then a joker came and proposed Mastochists, and I countered with Mastobators...

@qwert Well, if we are going to be gutterminds, we could say Mastobators, but I don't think that's going to catch on.

I like how the Fediverse has a red light district. Makes it feel more real, because red light districts are a part of the human experience too.

My cable tuner and my receiver were good friends just a few days ago, but now they refuse to exchange audio over HDMI. I changed absolutely nothing on my end, and I'm suspecting that the cable company changed the firmware or the audio encoding in some way.

Is there some kind of debugger box you can attach between two HDMI devices to eavesdrop on the handshake and check what's going on? I have wanted that so many times.
