Now, on a scale from 1 to 10, how reliable do you reckon it is to point a laser thermometer into your mouth in order to check if you have a fever? XD

You know, if we weren't so embarrassed about it, toilet paper would be called "butt wipes", and it would say so in large letters on the package.

Almost €8 to buy a cartridge for a labeller that only cost €40 in the first place? 5 cartridges and I will have spent the price of the machine in refills! I found Chinese knockoff cartridges for 1/3 the price on eBay and ordered them immediately.

The Internet had to get centralised. Free services had to get monetised. Google had to turn evil. The liberal world order had to end. All good things must indeed come to an end.

Yeah, so I ended up adding an ICMP port unreachable reject rule to the router's firewall for 192.0.2.0/24 (TEST-NET-1) and making the DNS proxy reply with that whenever an ad domain is queried.

For no particular reason, I decided to provide ad blocking to everyone on the network I'm managing. I added a few fake entries to the DNS proxy on the router for the most common ad providers.

Does anyone know of a valid IP that will instantly come back as unreachable? I'd prefer to use something else than 127.0.0.1 as the IP. My router won't accept 0.0.0.0. I'm wondering if I could simply use one of the TEST-NET-1 addresses and add a "reject" rule for it to the firewall.

I have probably gone completely over the top with the network setup I'm working on. I've put in far more effort than what I'm billing the customer for, because I suddenly have a ton of new shit to play with. I have some managed switches and one of them now has 7 different VLANs.

I downloaded a multitrack of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. The backing track is full of FM synths and subtractive synths. If you solo them all, it's like listening to a MIDI file on an old Sound Blaster card. If you solo everything else, it sounds like a 1970s RnB track with missing parts. It's everything they didn't use synthesisers for that really defines the track. I suspect that's the case for many tracks from the 1980s, despite popular belief and vaporwave nostalgia.

@klomb Specialised APs tend to cost more. In bridge mode, a WiFi router *is* an access point.

@InspectorCaracal yeah I have learned to just like not talk to any Linux zealot who insists that I can do all my music shit on Linux because, like, Audacity+LMMS is good enough for them, why the hell do I need [list about 99.9% of the features in Logic which are not shared by those things]

or why do I need Photoshop when GIMP is just fine

    that sort of thing

Whenever I see footage from 1960s civil rights demonstrations in the United States, i'm always relieved to see that there are white people demonstrating among the black people. Some white people were decent, at least.

@lufthans xeyes is cute, though. You want realistic human eyes, preferably some shady looking ones. Studies have shown that people are more honest if you put photos of eyes around them, because somewhere deep in our monkey brains, we get the feeling that another monkey is watching us.
