I'm happy people want to.spend their time helping me, but it seems I was unclear about what kind of information I want.
First and formost I want to know not what DEs exists or which DEs are lightweight in general, but if any other DEs have something similar to the Activities view, where you see all open windows and can open new ones by typing.
Just in case that doesn't work out I want to know if other distros with GNOME and deb are more lightweight.
I'm looking for a new Linux distro. Been using Ubuntu for a long time, and I love the GNOME environment so much. But it's a bit too taxing on my system.
The thing I love the most is the Activities overview, where you see all open windows and can start typing to open a new application.
So, are there any other DEs that have this feature and also look good? Or any lighter distros with GNOME and deb? #linuxnoob
#privacy The Court of Justice of the European Union (#CJEU) has ruled that websites hosting #Facebook Like buttons can be held liable for transferring data to Facebook. While the third-party website cannot be held responsible for the data processing carried out by Facebook after the data has been transmitted, it absolutely can be held liable for facilitating the collection and transmission of the data. https://www.neowin.net/news/cjeu-says-websites-using-facebook-like-buttons-liable-for-data
We're going to set up a screen with live updating numbers of members and other information at work. Could anyone reccommend some FOSS software to do this? What is this kind of software called anyway? Dashboard? Thanks!
I don't understand what's going on. I'm setting up a new laptop for work, with effing Windows of course. And it's demanding that I log in with or create a Microsoft account.
But before the summer I set up two other identical machines, and I'm sure they let me skip the registration part!
But this time it's impossible. And all three where bought at the same time too. Wtf is this shit? So annoying
Must say I'm a bit disappointed to se that the @openstreetmap wiki uses Google's ReCaptcha for signups. Fighting spam is extremely hard, so I understand, but still. Is there really no non-surveilance capitalism way of doing it?
My new hobby: Adding public drinking fountains (and toilets, but it's mostly fountains that are missing so far) to #OpenStreetMap. This is so important for people to find, but still so few are marked in #OSM. At least here in Norway. It's a shame, really. And the hotter the climate gets, the more important it will become. @openstreetmap
Anyone have any experience with #Onlyoffice? FOSS office suite that looks more like MS Office, and thus might be easier to convert people to. How does it compare to LibreOffice? https://www.onlyoffice.com/
