@maiyannah Is this script similar to what @xrevan86 posted in #social on Freenode IRC recently?

Maiyannah BishopIt was the dawn of the third age of federation, ten years after the Diaspora war. The ostatus project was a dream given form - it's goal: to give a place where people could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call, a home away from home, for shitposters, furries, developers, activists, and wanders. All wrapped together in over five hundred thirty-eight machines of silicon and steel, all alone in the internet. It can be a dangerous place, but it is our last, best hope for peace. This is the story of the last of the ostatus networks. The year is 2017. The name of the place is GNU social.
@freyo That said, I find these federation issues frustrating. (And based on experience with Pump\.io, which is what ActivityPub is based on, the AP protocol will likely solve none of these issues but will add a few more.)

@freyo There are some serious issues with #federation everywhere, including here. We should expect some breakage on a dev site, such as this one. I've been trying to help solve some of the general GS federation issues, but success has been very limited.
NFN, the main instance I host ( https://nu.federati.net/ ), stopped receiving incoming posts from many (but not all) users on Highland Arrow and from *all* users on LoadAverage. My account on LA only receives posts from my NFN account if I directly mention someone on #LoadAverage. And, yes, this account rarely receives posts from off-site anymore.
I have an account on the Mastodon developer's central instance, where I never know whether any contact's post will show up in the timeline.
@freyo Or you could self-host it, but not on regular "shared" or "webhotel" hosting. They used to suggest the $5/month Digital Ocean droplet for hosting Pump.io.
@dt You forget we're on different software stacks. GS didn't see the thread as continuous but Pleroma sees all responses as children to the parent post (which is better TBH). This doesn't discount us as being wrong as we saw two different things.
