@johnnynull I didn't know that MATE bundles Synapse! Way cool. That's one of my must-install packages. :)
I agree about the taskbar use. I have mine hidden by default. I was intending to use it as an example of a case of finding something that you usually take for granted as being nicely handled/designed.
@johnnynull Dayum. I've enjoyed using #Kubuntu in a VM. The taskbar seems much more useful and beautiful than I'm used to in #MATE, which I use primarily. I tried to install #KDE alongside my MATE install and it acts weird for since reason — quite unlike in the VM. @lnxw48a1
I'm enjoying using #Python to simply calculate stuff. Setup variables, run the calculation, tweak the variable values, run it again ... Or start with a list of variables and iterate through the list, using each variable in a calculation and outputting the result at each point for easy comparison.
I find this approach less tedious than doing the same thing in a spreadsheet.
@skateboarding I haven't used it much so far (yesterday was my first time skating it), but it worked like regular griptape and feels much nicer on my fingers/hands.
@skateboarding Hah! Yeah, I think that would count. But I was referring to DKL's rubber griptape, which is grippy but doesn't rip your shoes up. https://dklskateboarding.com/
I went out and skateboarded for a while to test the experimental griptape. It works even better than I'd hoped! And wow my body needed the #exercise. #skateboarding
I'd like to see #Pleroma or #Mastodon provide Filtered Lists, such that I can see posts from a list of people that include (or exclude) a particular term(s) (likely a particular hashtag). This would address this problem:
Without this, persons with varied interests can seem overly noisy (low signal-to-noise ratio) for potential followers that are interested in only one of their interests (or are actively disinterested in one of them --- HAH).
@amic Cool. :) What backend stuff do you think you'll use? I'm likely going to use #Python and #Django, start out by running that at #PythonAnywhere, and then annoy Walt with questions about using #Linode. :) @lnxw48a1
@amic Cool! What sort of stuff would you like to do with programming? I'm studying it for data analysis, exploring statistics, and building tools. @lnxw48a1
