I checked whether borosilicate glass is more brittle than standard soda glass, and it seems in addition to being more resilient against temperature shifts, it's sturdier too, so that's a win win. The only argument for standard glass seems to be cost. -

Interviews with Conroy, Hamill, Tara Strong, recording (and casting?) director Andrea Romano and other people from the voice cast of Batman TAS: How did Conroy and Hamill become Batman and the Joker for the first time, and what was it like to work on this production?

Conroy's own favorite performance was in "Perchance To Dream", Batman TAS (1992) S1E26, where he can be said to have played four different roles in one episode.
Steve Shives explains what's so great about Conroy's work in general and this episode in particular, and speculates on why this episode might have resonated strongly with Conroy personally.

Kevin Conroy's autobiography comic "Finding Batman" is linked to from dc.com/blog/2022/11/11/read-fi⦠, free to read for some people, presumably people in the US at least. In my region it's sadly not made available through this link.

Mark Hamill, Conroy's frequent voice actor co-star as the Joker, spoke highly of working with Conroy. Regarding his willingness to be involved in a Batman-related project, Hamill says, "When they offer me roles now, I say, 'Is Kevin doing it?' ... I don't even have to read the script, if Kevin's doing it I'll do it."
π₯°Thank you for all your years of work, Mr. Conroy. You left us too soon.
(I'm currently watching Justice League Unlimited and he was a great singer too!)

(I found colored single-layer ones, but I have surprised myself before and I want a preview of what I'm drinking. I like camomile tea, but *not* when I'm expecting cola.) -

@Thomas From what I can tell, drinking containers advertised in HK use UK ounces.
It's what one might expect, but on the other hand all "centers" built before Handover are "centres", but *most* (not all!) of the ones built after are "centers".

@Tim Lavoie I don't plan to do it. I do plan for my future stupidity and doing it anyway.
I only found insulating double-layer clear borosilicate mugs though. Those would be stupid twice to put in a pot for heating.

The joke goes:
"What's the difference between gray and grey?"
"One is a color, the other is a colour"It's true when speaking of the color that one spelling is US and the other non-US, but there are other uses that derive from someone's name, and then the spelling is fixed:
- Earl Grey tea is always spelled with an e
- The radiation dose unit gray is always spelled with an aIf you go deep enough, some trades consider grey and gray two different shades!

Looking up borosilicate beer tankards between 360 ml (12 oz) and 500 ml (17 oz).
I just learned that a pint is 20 oz and almost 20% more than 500 ml.

Short thread:
β² @jalefkowit@octodon.social: Longtime Readersβ’ will know that one of my persistent interests since the current phase of the war in Ukraine broke out is why and how the Russian air force (the VKS) failed to establish air superiority over Ukraine in February-March 2022. Like a lot of observers, I expected them to sweep Ukrainian forces from the skies pretty rapidly. That didn't happen.
The clearest account of those opening days and weeks I've found so far is in this RUSI report, from November 2022. It confirms some things I already suspected (that it is basically impossible for non-stealth aircraft to survive long in airspace covered by modern ground-to-air missile systems), while also including some details I had not seen elsewhere. (Ex.: Ukrainian fighters and missile launchers managed to dodge the very first VKS strikes because they received early warning, presumably provided by Western intelligence services, in enough time to disperse to alternate bases.)
