FAM co-creator confirms that TOS Phase II was aired. This pushed the movies back, but they never did the V'Ger one and went straight to Wrath of Khan, haha, so that's why that's only one year late.

It is left ambiguous whether Phase II counted as a series of its own and whether a TNG-like or something else entirely would have been the third series.

Displaced several years, their TNG would have had a largely different cast. I'm guessing Dune received more budget and love, it became a trilogy and Patrick Stewart is best known as Gurney Halleck. 😃

With a running moon program I suppose TOS would have run longer. Maybe TAS would have still happened after TOS Phase II, and something like TNG after that, but later than in our timeline, so by 2003 neither of DS9, VOY nor ENT would have happened yet.

This episode is in 1983 or later, so Wrath of Khan came at least a year later than in our timeline.

Now I'm curious if B5 was made in the FAMverse.

Wow, I had no idea. If asked, I would have assumed that the GSM+++ system has its own timekeeping, maybe anchored in a GPS reference somewhere, but not relying on GPS at every base station.

I bet a lot of civil defense services are thinking about improving that resilience right now.

Is it only for TDD though? Or is it for encryption and other timing in the packet network too? Wouldn't the whole base station be on the same time source?

Her first name is unusual, but I've never looked into it. I just knew her full name is Cheryl Gates McFadden and she used Cheryl McFadden when working as a choreographer.

Now I suddenly had a hunch and looked up her parents. Yep. =)

A character in the 1960s that is reacting like a bigot, can't overcome it, and at the same time warns his friend that "there's too many people in the world like me"? That strikes the perfect balance between believable character of the era while still maintaining decency and having a clear author's point of view.

I'm on S2 of #ForAllMankind and I just bawled my face out as they did because families dealing with trauma well written will never not do that to me.

I love that several characters:
1) Are broken and do and say awful things because of it
2) Acknowledge it, see what it's doing to people and search for ways to cope and/or improve

Someone was recently, I forgot the context, referring to someone as a "follower of TESCREAL", with further explanation that made it sound like this is a coherent movement that self-describes under this label.

I wanted to correct that and clarify that #TESCREAL is just a label made from observation and study, for a set of loosely related idea complexes, that was coined by Emile P. Torres and studied by Torres and Timnit Gebru. I wanted to explain that people within the tendency don't actually call themselves TESCREALists.

But it seems reality already caught up and invalidated my correction:
