Yay, finished all post-game missions in Pokemon Arceus. Now I'm free to focus on Zelda Breath of the Wild.

But also kid bought Paper Mario and I should check that out.

The name of the episode was #SwanThong ... and that tells you a lot about this show. And just watching this 2:30 clip tells you a lot about the show too, without spoiling too much, just the tone and character of it all.

For very indirect reasons we started talking about DC's Legends of Tomorrow the other day and since then I cannot get out of my head what an absolutely ridiculous and wonderful show that was. Loved it to bits.

Here's the fight scene from the Season 5 finale, which used "The Thong Song" for soundtrack, in-universe, just because.

My Swedish accent becomes a mix of my parents and the place I grew up if I talk to someone from either of those places or people from the north, more Stockholm when I talk to east coast Swedes and slightly more of my university town if I talk to west coast or south Swedish people.

My English is very flexible and I basically 50% adopt the accent of the person I'm talking to. The other 50% is Swedish+mid-Atlantic.

At first I thought cross and sauce rhyming seemed outrageous, but after disucssing it back and forth for a bit I'm starting to believe they probably would rhyme in my speech if I were talking to an American.

Someone shares a picture of prof. Bouman being excited over the black hole picture and *immediately* the ackshually brigade jumps in, when nobody had even said anything more than that she led the development of the algorithm, which is 100% accurate and 0% exaggeration.

@hobbsc "cross" and "sauce" rhyme in Bawston obviously, but maybe not in New Haven? The cross-sauce split is not exactly the same thing as cot-caught I think, so maybe it doesn't follow the same lines?

@Digital Mark λ ☕️ 🎃 🧙 👻 I distinguish those. Merry/marry have a short vowel, long r, Mary has a long vowel, short r. Merry starts almost like Mexico, but Mary starts like bare.

But that's when I'm sitting here thinking about it or if I'm talking to an English person. If I'm talking to someone who merges them, I probably do too.

@hobbsc All of the confused people, both camps, seemed to be native speakers.

The "Indian style" name was mentioned as well, and noted as offensive.

Makes me think of "The Lady in Red", where the songwriter wrote a text where "dance" and "romance" should obviously rhyme, but then the singer pronounces them in a way that doesn't.

It's so funny that the writer and the singer are both Chris de Burgh.

Just saw a wonderful thread where half the people couldn't imagine how "criss cross applesauce" could possibly rhyme and the other half were wondering how on Earth you'd say it so it *wouldn't* rhyme.

Apparently this is a rhyme that kindergarteners in the cot-caught-merger parts of the US get told when it's time to sit cross-legged on the floor and have a little gathering.
