    @brody I'd guess it's because Unity moves your mouse either inside the screen or in the center of the screen when it starts, and the delta might be very high. I just tend to ignore input for the first half a second.

    @w84death Looks very good!

    Btw, what's your window manager/desktop environment? Looks very cool!

    Pleroma wizards, why would an instance with the default nginx config not federate outwards? Logs say it posts stuff into remote inboxes, but nothing appears on the other end.

    Yay, it's done https://crates.io/crates/minreq

    If you need some not-in-a-hurry requests done easily, minreq is your postman. He can also do HTTPS if required.

    Well. I would like to announce that the "rustls" crate is amazing. It basically just implements https for you, and using the crate (at least in my simple usecase) is bafflingly simple. Good crate.

    oh, for the folks playing along at home, this is a $2.50 vultr instance plus $10 storage (100gb). you don't really need the storage, i just have a lot of data already. once we have some kind of garbage collection for old posts, the 20gb of the instance should be enough.

    @rx14 A fair point. I'm guessing most of my reasons for choosing a specific language aren't rooted in reality, but that's life, I guess.

    @rx14 Performance isn't my main gripe with GC, it's that it makes me feel like I'm not in control of what's being held in memory. And also perf, a little bit.

    @rx14 I don't like the syntax, I don't like that nil is a thing that doesn't get culled in compilation, and I don't like the garbage collection. And then there's just the fact that Rust has all kinds of neat stuff I like that not many others have, like the borrowing system and the pattern matching stuff.

    I might change my mind after I look into it more though. :shrugfelix:

    @rx14 I'll do the async myself. Let the request block, it'll be running on its own thread anyways.

    @rx14 All of them have 10 dependencies, one of which is Hyper, which leads to even more dependencies and would have me deal with async code.

    So I just wrote my own without any deps. (Well, I'll add one for https because I'm not rolling my own crypto.)

    How's the AP client going, you may ask. Well, I've been making a HTTP client, so, that's a start. (https://github.com/neonmoe/minreq)

    I'll add https support next, and then I might actually start trying to make the client itself.

    @lain Oh, that's interesting. Well, at least it sounds like a good option if this instance burns down in a fire.

    @lain My posts would probably not federate to the old followers from my end, but would their instances try to discover my posts?

    @lain If I were to start a Pleroma instance on this domain, and make an account with the same name, how would other instances react? Would they see any difference?
