    @Wolf480pl Pinging the IP works, dig works (status is NOERROR), but ping does not. And I originally noticed this because caddy couldn't connect to my git server, so it's not just ping either. Any ideas?

    @Wolf480pl Haven't used it before so I'm not sure I got the syntax right, but `mtr git.neon.moe` just says:

    Failed to resolve host: git.neon.moe: Name or service not known

    This is to say, I feel like the Fediverse proves the saying true: "When you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

    Just because white opinions are no longer given special priority here does not suddenly mean they're marginalized, and it CERTAINLY doesn't mean they're correct just because they aren't artificially popular.

    If you honestly can't take your opinions being criticized... stop sharing them publicly online.

    @epicmorphism Yeah, I think the generated ones really made makefiles seem a lot more intimidating than they are. And I think the lack of makefiles anywhere that's not C or C++. Like, my blog is now powered by awk, make and cmark. Much more elegant than python and a bunch of libraries.

    Added an Atom feed to the blog, but can't test it myself (aside from validators) because my own rss reader broke down just now :blobsob:

    @Wolf480pl The blog certainly was a good start! In the past I've used python scripts for similar reasons, but make and awk sure seem more designed for this specific task (putting some rendered markdown in some html template, for all .md files).

    I started a blog :blobcatsurprised:

    @grainloom

    a disturbing thing is that my utility, pkgconf, is basically in most modern unix systems at this point. it is also included in many commercial toolchains. toolchains benefit greatly from pkgconf as a tool. but guess how much pkgconf brings in? $0

    not a single commercial vendor who has included pkgconf in their product has ever bothered to pay for maintenance of pkgconf.

    the only time I have ever been paid to work on pkgconf is when I was working for a startup, who recognized that pkgconf was a key part of their build system and decided to allow me to use some of my hours to work on pkgconf and other Alpine toolchain issues. but that's indirectly. that's not a company saying "hey pkgconf is a key part of our product, here's $$$ to maintain it."

    if pkgconf maintenance were properly funded, that alone, would cover all of my expenses. instead us free software developers all have to set up patreons and stuff because the invention of docker ate all the systems development jobs.

    @pea Good morning! That's a very nice part of the day. Though not super quiet at my place, I live next to a harbor so there's lots of trucks. Still nice though.
