"The U.S. and Europe, for instance, had similar population size and average income in 1980 — as well as analogous inequality levels. Both regions have also faced similar exposure to international markets and new technologies since, but their inequality trajectories have radically diverged. In the U.S., the bottom 50% income share decreased from 20% to 10% today, whereas in Europe it decreased from 24% to 22%."

"Indeed, the U.S. is the extreme counterargument to the myth of trickle down: while incomes grew by more than 600% for the top 0.001% of Americans since 1980, the bottom half of the population was actually shut off from economic growth, with a close to zero rise in their yearly income."

Trickle down: the biggest scam in history.

"The maximum success never coincides with the maximum talent, and vice-versa,” say the researchers. So if not talent, what other factor causes this skewed wealth distribution? “Our simulation clearly shows that such a factor is just pure luck,” say Pluchino and co."

There's finally scientific evidence (if any was needed) the correlation between wealth and skill is so weak it's irrelevant. Social justice and equality, not mindless competition, are what the world needs.

    "Onism

    n. the frustration of being stuck in just one body, that inhabits only one place at a time, which is like standing in front of the departures screen at an airport, flickering over with strange place names like other people’s passwords, each representing one more thing you’ll never get to see before you die—and all because, as the arrow on the map helpfully points out, you are here."

"Exposure to economic words might be enough to inhibit compassion and concern for others, even among experienced executives. (...) Executives who unscrambled sentences with economic words expressed significantly less compassion. (...) After thinking about economics, executives felt less empathy"

Maybe you didn't know this but my parents lived during the Fascism in Spain. Franco's dictatorship ended in 1975.
    That's few years ago.

My grandparents lived during the Civil War.
My grandfather lost his home because of a bombing.

Now, let me tell you something:
I don't want the fascism word to disappear, I don't want people to forget what happened.

Memory is great thing, it helps to avoid the errors of the past.

Don't censor what happened as it can hurt someone. Remember, respect and honor.

@epilepticrabbit the core fact, often overlooked by many, is #FOSS outgrew the community model: despite what developers think and say, FOSS is deeply political in nature and is paving the way for a new mode of production. If we want FOSS to go anywhere, cooperatives need to replace communities in the open source space
