@lexi @tomas Quite awesome :-).
-
@brainblasted I've also noticed that the gtkmm developers really don't have a problem with extending the API how they like it, like Gtk::Button::set_image_from_icon_name() or an overloaded Gtk::Application::run() that can accept a Gtk::Window as an argument.
All this stuff could've been in GTK+, but it isn't.
Not really an issue because one can simply ignore the extras, but I wonder if any other binding does a similar thing.
-
@brainblasted I guess the main questions are how it handles memory management and signals, as these are the weirdest parts of gtkmm.
-
@lexi Their memory probably filtered out everything about Star Trek except the Picard's voice and Ferengi's ear shape %).
-
@drequivalent Not too far off.
It's pretty confusing for an outsider when the oppressed sound just like the oppressor.
-
@drequivalent It's easy to see how that kind of aggressive rhetoric benefits the current status quo in the US…
-
@bob It also requires a phone number on registration now.

> the right is way more skilled at talking to "normies" than the left.
@devurandom Probably because it's easier to successfully deliver a message full of drama like "them commies are out to get you and take your job!" than teach something of value.
In the US "the left" can be very dramatic too though.
-
@brainblasted So you are making a project in gtk-rs?
I've been wondering… how do you compare it to gtkmm as a binding :-)?
-
@kaniini Well, that's depressing.
-
@ninjatrappeur I read everything since my last reading session.
AndStatus allows to perform that easily.
-
@61 WhatsApp is based on a stripped down ("optimised") version of the XMPP C2S protocol, but it has never been a part of the !xmpp federated network, nor advertised itself as such.
It's as if Twitter were to implement a highly modified version of the ActivityPub's C2S protocol. Would'n've made a slightest difference.

> I almost forgot about the new Doctor Who season. Looking at the comments, it seems it's not that good.
@commagray The first four episodes were pretty dull.
Also packed with social commentary, which is painfully obvious because of the overall weak execution including the said commentary.
But the fifth episode (the last one aired to date) was fun though. Pure fantasy, love it.
The influence of the Classic Doctor Who is pretty obvious too, but… the contemporary popular Internet culture references are still there and as strong as ever.
I was hoping they'll be gone with Stephen Moffat, but apparently not. Ugh, mediocre.
I will still tune in for the sixth episode of !drwho :-). Have a Jelly Belly and allons-y!

> Russian media has again asked me to participate in their West-bashing programme. I did not even reply to the invitation.
@schestowitz The right thing to do.
Maybe if you ask of their opinion on the Primorye and Hakassia elections, they'll bugger off for good :-).
-
@kinsey En Interreto? Estas tre facile :-).
Sed ne mi, mi ne povas paroli bone kaj ne havas praktikon aŭ tempon por lernaĵo :-(.
-
@thorthenorseman I keep pronouncing as "enginks" (with a "g" as in "gear"), because that gives better recognisability and it's simply easy to produce :-).
Also "Engine X" gives a Powerpuff Girls vibe %).

> I have a bad habit of packaging everything that I use and only manage programs using the system package manager.
> Does anyone relate?
@danyspin97 I do the exact same thing, and my distribution choice (!opensuse) reflects that a lot ;-).
-
@wizard "255" would have made more sense :-).
-
@hj The Julian calendar is not exactly hip these days though.
-
@vegos Thanks for caring :-).
