@jeff Yeah… I'm really not sure how did the atmosphere of hypermoderation get developed on Mastodon. I guess it just did.
Unfortunately with social networking the software is only part of the solution, luck and community are also a must. And a positive example from the community leader.

@mangeurdenuage Yes, he does, he also used to be on identi.ca until.

And a follow-up: http://schestowitz.com/Weblog/archives/2017/11/23/mastodon-is-oppressive

@deadsuperhero I find relief in knowing that there are people who ruin the world on large scale and still get rewarded by the society, making me sound like a much better deal.
I guess it's flawed logic in a way but, you know, so is the fixation on deserving which is estimated very roughly by our own brains depending on what we think others think of us.
-
@deadsuperhero "But then again, I'm only human" – sometimes this phrase has a meaning.
-
@bob It is called The Capital after all, hinting at the topic :-).
-
Oh boy, @schestowitz has been erased/banned from mastodon.technology for unclear reasons: http://schestowitz.com/Weblog/archives/2017/11/21/mastodon-free-speech

@deadsuperhero The future is not now but the future is nigh though.

@thor In Russian it's pronounced like "santim(y)etr". I never questioned origins of the prefix "santi-" but now I realise a more conventional way for Russian would be "tsentim(y)etr" like "tsentr" for "centre" or "tsentn(y)er" for "centner".
I guess I didn't question it because English has a very similar kind of pronunciation.
-
@thor It's probably the haircuts :-).

@verius Um, social justice is literally what socialism is about. If that's a bad idea for socialist parties to advocate that then it's bad for them to be socialist which is paradoxical to the very least
What's a socialist party if it doesn't advocate for equal opportunities for people of any class, at education, labour, a right to live (healthcare), etc.?
Unless you mean something else by this term.

@melezh "And what's bloody fscking worth noticing is". Swearing as exclamation is one of the most common use cases actually :-).
