@fitheach Unfortunately I experienced a blocker in using it on localhost that basically prevented me from registering a user. I suspect that some form of validation on user names wasn't working properly, and prevented me from signing up.
However, the flagship instance works perfectly well, and that's what I've been exploring today.
@pettter@bob I guess it could be pretty broad. I was mostly referring to jobs that fall outside of industries that are traditionally thought of as unionized.
For example, retail, fast food, support desk, but also software engineering and the myriad of other jobs within tech itself.
@bob You're not wrong, but I think being part of a union or some other broad organization probably does a lot to point individuals towards a common goal and gives their cause shape and form.
The fact that there's no IWW for any kind of job that isn't related to labor seems like a gap waiting to be filled.
@cobra2 That's an astute observation, but I'm more talking about the design of the thing. It's basically the repeating head of an old white man in red, white, and black over and over again.
The branding is weirdly dystopian and visually resembles propaganda churned out by a dictatorship.
@bob The first step is to get any amount of tech workers to agree to unionize.
For some reason, it just doesn't seem to happen in the US that much. It could be that industry wages are typically high for engineers and other tech workers, or the fact that many small tech startups effectively shut down those kinds of discussions due to internal resource constraints.
In fact, come to think of it, it's rather hard to just have a discussion about a raise in tech jobs, from my experience...
