It seems that most techies out there are absolutely fine with systems that lack documentation.
If you point out a severe lack of documentation to the average developer, they might agree with your observation, only to shrug it off, as if this isn't a big deal to them.
I almost get the impression that they *like* the lack of documentation, because they get to explore and mess around.
The reason I say this is that poorly documented libraries and frameworks that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole are used in a ton of projects out there. People choose to use them, while completely neglecting to quality check the documentation.
I don't like to explore and mess around. I want to get the job done. Having to struggle to figure out how a system works makes me frustrated, and I don't enjoy it at all. Actually taking pleasure from this strikes me as a form of masochism.

I'm trying to use Redshift to adjust the colour temperature on Ubuntu 18.04, and while it's working, the result looks too reddish to me. The fluorescent lights in my office look more yellow, so I can't find a matching colour temperature.
In digital darkroom apps, you typically find two settings: Temperature and Tint. Tint adjusts the Green/Magenta balance. Adding green to red gives you yellow, which would be perfect in this case. Redshift doesn't seem to have a Tint option. Is this possible to adjust somehow?

Funny how we put this label "populism" on right wing parties. Has everyone forgotten the rhetoric of socialist parties in Europe? "The elite" is just "bourgeois" in new wrapping, and "ordinary people" maps to "the proletariat". I mean, it's the same "off with the king's head" mentality we've seen resurfacing for centuries, just branded differently, with different medicines for the sick patient (the country).

Is there like a fedi group chat or IRC channel anywhere?

Prince Charles says he'll stop writing letters to politicians when he becomes King of England.
I love how optimistic he is. Everyone knows that Queen Elizabeth is immortal. Just look at her. Then look at him. Who do you think is going to be six feet under first?

Okay, so I'll be trying to live on pleroma.soykaf.com for a while. We'll see how this goes.
-
@lanodan @lain Derp, yes, I found it.
-
@Kameyosek @dirb @p @thorthenorseman Okay, so they are blocking some of the better-known instances, but not like hundreds of them. I suspect octodon.social just isn't very well federated. I think the tiny instance I ran for a while was actually better federated, and the same seems to be the case for pleroma.soykaf.com.
-
@lanodan @lain What was the trick for getting the TweetDeck interface on here again? Is that still working?
-
@dirb @Kameyosek @p @thorthenorseman I can, from Pleroma, and holy shit, this thread is huge. You know, I thought it was strangely quiet on octodon.social compared to the instance I ran myself... Why is octodon.social so poorly federated? Is the block list really that large?
-
@hakui @nerthos @thorthenorseman I can now. I have a Pleroma account that's been sitting idle.
-
I just found out that octodon.social blocks shitposter.club. Unfortunately, I followed many people from that instance, and it's been several months since I migrated to octodon.social. NOT cool.
-
Is this the biggest Pleroma instance, @lain?
-
@lain Oop, found it...
-
@lain Did the chat box disappear?
