@dankwraith I am now imagining programmers as digital craftsmith, etching esoteric runes with their text editor, murmuring softly some potential algorithmic insight to weight its potential value, and cooperating with other people of the craft on their wondrous software forges, endlessly finding out new flaws and endlessly fixing them.

i would very much like programmers to stop thinking of themselves as scientists or engineers and start thinking of themselves as artisans or craftspeople

alternatively, but equally as selfish, id also wish id been born a couple decades later, so that either "we" fixed the problem and i would get to live the problems of old age or wouldnt have been born -

Sometimes, selfishly, I wish I'd been born a few decades earlier so I wouldn't have to seriously content with the global climate crises and the utter failure of capitalism and liberal democracy.

@brandon Ahh. No scientists before the Internet also said the climate was going to collapse roughly at this time, in fact Exxon/Mobile's scientists in the early 70s were within 3ppm of how much carbon dioxide would be in the atmosphere this year.
I appreciate your caution but it's all significantly worse than you've been led to believe, if we don't change how the entire planet lives rapidly it is unlikely either of us will face the problems of old age.

everyday i gather more information than i could possibly consume in the same day. but i also come across more sources for getting information. so i store them and look at it later or go for another media gathering spree.
but my pipeline for consuming media is terrible. i just like to collect them i think. either i need to have some way to motivate myself to consume the things, or actually settle and just do curation??

Please help a Latinx lesbian. A dip in mental health and rainy days has meant taking days off from dog walking. I don't want to feel bad for taking time to step back, allow job-related shoulder pain to heal *and* get hw done... but I still do.
I'm hoping to raise $150 to rent and gas. Even $5 helps. I'll post updates until this goal is met. Thank you, truly. This is how gays survive. Boosts appreciated <3 #mutualaid

It's disturbing when a large and experienced open source steward like #ASF (Apache Software Foundation) decides it can't sustain community-hosting and needs to create new dependencies on #DataFarms. This is exactly the opposite of what ought to be happening, especially since GH was acquired by Microsoft.

Thought of the day: everyone praises that being a developer is easy cuz there's so much work around, but it's so damn hard to find something that doesn't corrupt your soul, smashes your ethics and doesn't compromise your morals. Ignoring that yeah, there's lots of jobs around 🙄
