Nätnazist-paranoian runt Aschberg är rätt fantastisk. Senaste jag såg var någon som tror att han har fått en hjärtattacks-pistol av CIA -

Been fighting with 24-bit integers in avr-gcc today, and its positively byzantine logic when it comes to sign extension and comparisons. Its behavior would change when making some local variables global, leading to much confusion. In the end I had to have casts like (__int24)(int8_t)somebyte<<16 to get it working correctly -

Audiophiles are fun. I tend to ask for measurements backing their claims, but they never have as much as a spectrum analyzer plot.
The only way I can see pot taper being important is pot "feel". Or certain log pots that emulate real ones by having a fixed resistor parallel with the wiper, so the total resistance varies. That could have an effect if used as part of a filter..
Personally I'd go for rotary encoders and digital pots these days, to prevent microphonics and wear issues. -

@concernedcatgirl Yep. Chalk it up to the high concentration of leftists in Umeå. Always some percentage of tankies. They're not very welcome anywhere as best as I can tell though -

I used to think tankies couldn't possibly be real, until I met one at a party. Mao and Stalin paraphernalia included -

Oh hey, Team Hakuto. I talked to their main rover engineer a while back, we share similar views. Going to guess he's not as gung-ho about space capitalism as this Hakamada fellow -

CV hack: since the hash of each commit in git and hg is formed by blocks containing the hashes of previous commits, you can put in "blockchain" as part of your skillset 😎😂 -

@pettter Pump-and-dumps don't have much to do with those operating BTC tho (miners, nodes). That happens on the exchanges -

everyone thinks nakamoto invented bitcoin, but really the idea was cribbed from ancient egyptians, who invented primitive blockchains to describe ownership of wealth carried by pharaohs and nobles to the afterlife. researchers nowadays call it "crypt-o-currency"

To continue the digital currency discussion, I've been looking at GNU Taler more closely. Being able to run it on top of any transaction system (SEPA, IBAN, even BTC) is neat, and being taxable is a good sell for honest people. Plus customers get to be anonymous. Bonus points for something finally making use of 401 Payment Required 💱

*Trustless* blockchains are what requires PoW. The work forms the trust. If you provide trust via some other mechanism then the PoW part goes away. For example, you might have a federated ledger and trust that your local exchange admin trusts decent enough people
