‘Facebook, Google face first GDPR complaints over ‘forced consent’’
“Schrems argues that the companies are using a strategy of “forced consent” to continue processing the individuals’ personal data — when in fact the law requires that users be given a free choice unless a consent is strictly necessary for provision of the service.”
@siphonay See http://worldsstv.com/ or use http://websdr.org/ and hook an SSTV decoder up to pulse_monitor or similar. Or build a µBITX http://www.hfsignals.com/ :) What I was getting at is there's plenty of nude or scantily clad women being sent over SSTV. Somewhat awkward when playing around with it at the local radio club..
@danie10 My knowledge of grid stuff is limited, but what I gathered from some quick looking around is: if the grid frequency starts to dip then it's overloaded and one wants to push it back up. Since the start-up time of PVs is nil they are great for this, thus preventing blackouts. Cool!
@cadey Better yet, just make responsive websites. It's not hard. As a bonus you make life easier for those that need larger text and those who like tiling browsers horizontally
@siphonay Ever take a look at SSTV traffic on HF?..

pettter ✅Chat protocols are Fun Things to Hack Together, and have some thorny issues that are interesting problems in their own right. However, if your goal is to be The New Thing, don't. You will run into all the same issues that other protocols (notably XMPP) have already had to tackle several times with the current status being An Acceptable Tradeoff. If we want a global communication standard, we should focus on XMPP, as the most general, well-defined and decentralised alternative available, with many different implementation both of servers and clients, not to mention a broad range of small, medium, and large servers.
@clacke @vertigo @galaxis The C64 scene has seen a great revival lately, partly because all the oldtimers' kids are teens or have started moving out, so they have time for hobbies again.
I've written and released both games and demos for the Atari 2600, and for a whole bunch of other oldschool machines. It's great fun!
