I rather like the idea that the largest unsigned 16-bit integer is Frost thousand Frost hundred Frosty Frost.

With each passing day, and each day I don't work on my KCP53010 processor design, I yearn ever more for going back to a simple stack architecture CPU.

RISC-V is nice, but holy hell is it complicated to implement. Even a ridiculously simple implementation requires many thousands of lines of Verilog. nMigen is helping, but not by much.

A functional stack CPU can be implemented in as little as 2000 LOC of Verilog, and that's really pushing things.

One of the reasons for building all my own cores from scratch is exactly to offer a platform where this is the preferred reality. I'm even interested in building a FOSH backplane eventually.

I'm really quite far away from achieving any of my goals at the moment; but, if you ever stumble across the project someday, you'll know why I did things the way they were. :)
