@mykola it is refreshing to see someone celebrating inclusion of "more than queer and furries"
I for one welcome all the disenfranchised masses, freedom from corporations is awesome

Tfw you realise Moz is breaking Firefox lately too and you really don't have a good recommendation beyond browsers nobody has heard of.
@starbreaker we as an industry have left software requirements ("requires pentium 3 or higher") behind to say "it just needs a browser!", without thinking of how bloated complex and insecure browsers are
I dare say that the web is classist at this point. It favours the richer class, the people who can afford fibre and Ryzen. It doesn't care about those still on satellite or ADSL (<25M). It doesn't care about those who have to buy computers from goodwill, typically 5-8 years old.
Every time you write code that requires Chrome or CEF or Electron, just remember: you are giving Google control over you and your users.
You are letting them dictate what you can and cannot do. You are letting them view your user's potentially private activities (URLs are always sent to Google without Debian's patch set).
You are becoming a part of their toxic culture, their neocapitalism.
Remember that.
WHY DOES LITERALLY NOBODY WRITE SOFTWARE ANY MORE
THE WEB MUST DIE.
Oh look discourse I feel comfortable participating in b/c I've been through it all.
IRC died because IRCv3 was a toxic cesspool of conflicting egos.
Discord/etc isn't usable because it is proprietary. The things I talk about with people could be seriously dangerous if kept in a proprietary system.
Matrix is a laughable protocol with terrible ideas on "security" and "usability", and their main client is a bloody web app.
Going forward, my primary form of comms over IP will be Masto and XMPP.
@Trev @KitRedgrave @bea smells like another way to keep poor people out of tech.
"you must have this much money and this much of your own tech before joining our club"
it's gross
@staticsafe @kellerfuchs it warms my heart to see all this crap and be vindicated.
don't use PowerPC Anna
don't run your own AP on FreeBSD Anna
don't use ossv3 Anna
your infrastructure is a hot mess Anna
God Anna
why do you use all this old crap Anna
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW
Hi, I'm A. Wilcox. I am making a Linux distribution that focuses on security, privacy, and stability. In my spare time I play with my cat, Mr Gaz.
I used to love writing and playing music but now I just listen to it. Still have my piano and guitar, just never have the chance or feeling to use them latelyβ¦
I will end this with a picture of Mr Gaz. Happy posting.

Remember that thing where we made an instance dedicated to admin drama so it didn't spill over into the fediverse?
Why did that stop?
I think I could make more money streaming videos of my cat than I could putting 110% of myself into trying to improve the world through fixing all the things in technology.
And there's only a few dollars a month in cat streaming.
