@vertigo Just an idea, because it's not a requirement that the initial community is too big and mainstream, on the contrary, you want to find more of the dedicated people with a certain aesthetical and ethical sense, who have a penchant for VT100, lack of bloat, and rock solid NSA-less hardware.
You can always have a web-based, HTML canvas-rendered gateway for Hackaday types.

You don't need to do much to get started apart from uploading your design notes there. That could begin to attract likeminded people, and others with a certain point of view who are sick to death of the www.

The point wasn't that Chrome sucks, or that having many tabs open sucks.
The point is that the web browser sucks. The web, HTML, the DOM, and an immense hodge-podge of largely unused code cobbled up together code sucks when you need to work on non-trivial tasks.
It's fine for reading toots and email. *Maybe*
But for reading non-trivial text, and doing anything that isn't consumerist internet applications... all other knowledge work suffers.

@vertigo I can't talk on behalf of a public that is yet to materialise for the stuff I'm designing on the hypermedia and personal computing fronts, but I can guarantee that I'm going to exploit every gigaflop and every pixel your machines can spit out to achieve things most desktop GUI users/knowledge workers would consider alien technology if it were available today.
