β the vulnerability was there for 6 years β fixed in WordPress 4.9.9 and 5.0.1, however, path traversal is still possible under certain circumstances
I'm looking for a #C programmer who'd like to learn Rust. I'm preparing a workshop and need to beta-test it with someone (takes 4 hours, online via screen sharing should be fine). Let me know if you're interested!
@Wolf480pl@switchingsocial In that case, you could consider putting a self hosted application like Matrix or Mattermost on a super-cheap VM at OVH or something.
My workplace does that for our back-up monitoring servers.
@danyork@switchingsocial Indeed. Matrix seems to me to be more of a replacement for IRC, though it could certainly work as a team chat option. Mattermost is more like slack.
@blaubachn@switchingsocial Mattermost is really nice. It's open source, very much like slack, and stable. We've been running it at work for a few months and it's working out really well so far.
Rocket.chat was a bit of a pain to set up, whereas Matttermost was quite easy to get going on a standard Linux machine.
From everything I've tried (Matrix included) Mattermost seems the best team chat option, especially for those who like slack.

@jankoekepan@bob You say Amazon isn't doing anything "wrong" because they aren't breaking the law, & here you seem to have law and ethics confused.
Law doesn't define right from wrong, but what is permissible. It is possible -- as in this case with Amazon -- to behave unethically & still potentially be acting within the letter of the law.
Amazon's actions are unethical. Tax law in the US doesn't ensure firms & the wealthy pay their fair share. That is what is inexcusable.
@jankoekepan I wouldn't shout about it, though the problem is mostly bad tax law. Amazon exploited that law to the maximum by off-shoring and such, so they are still responsible and have done wrong here.
Social media is a very ineffective platform for debate. So I won't continue the conversation beyond what we have already said here.
@alana You're welcome! Oh, one thing that makes this project easier is using a well supported, low maintenance distribution like Fedora, OpenSUSE, or maybe Ubuntu (in my experience, upgrades on Ubuntu were often painful in the past though).
If you have to compile lots of software, or hunt around for solutions to issues a lot, you'll have to invest a lot more time and effort on the project, which could be a pain when you just want to watch a movie or listen to some music. π
