@Denderix @sil I'm not aware of any way to have multiple timelines from multiple instances in the same app at the same time. There might be another app that supports it, but currently Pinafore requires you to switch back and forth between instances.

@flakoot Hmmmm, I think I enjoy this one the most, although it's also about Service Workers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgLemdR65pE https://nolanlawson.github.io/cascadia-2016/

@garbados I think it's a great idea but I'm not sure how viable it is to get a critical mass of employees on board. Maciej Ceglowski has been trying to get tech workers to unionize for years with little impact AFAICT.

"Tech Workers Now Want to Know: What Are We Building This For?" by Kate Conger and Cade Metz https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/07/technology/tech-workers-ask-censorship-surveillance.html
I've seen these kinds of conversations inside both Microsoft and Salesforce. It's a great way to keep tech companies accountable, because there's so much competition for talent, so employees have a lot of bargaining power.

@charlag Probably, yeah. I only learned it in the context of being on the Edge team. Interesting to see how similar the concepts are across browsers.

"Calls between JavaScript and WebAssembly are finally fast" by Lin Clark https://hacks.mozilla.org/2018/10/calls-between-javascript-and-webassembly-are-finally-fast-%f0%9f%8e%89/
Lin Clark always does such amazing job explaining these concepts. It's also interesting to see that Firefox uses the same terminology Edge does, e.g. "trampoline" and "built-in."

@marseye @notabene "skittish" me dit plutôt "peureux" ou "anxiété" (l'anglais est ma langue maternelle 🙂).

@letthewatersroar We need a good Anglicization though. Maybe "frillo"? Also doubles as a pun: "Brrr, it's cold." "Frill, yo."

I would also like to start a political movement on behalf of all cold-sensitive frileux ("frillos"?) to ban the over-use of air conditioning in office buildings. Especially in the winter.

In French they have a very useful word to describe someone who is sensitive to the cold: "frileux" (or "frileuse").
This describes me perfectly. As soon as October rolled around, I started wearing wool socks, long johns, a scarf, a hat... It's also the reason I like to grow a beard for the winter.
Anyway, we should bring this word to English.

@nick Nice! Yeah I think MatLog picked up nicely where CatLog left off. (I stopped maintaining it a few years ago.)

Closing registrations because there's a sudden rush of new users, and I'm not sure if it's a spambot wave or not.

I'm really excited to see what happens next with Solid. Seems pretty easy to run your own Solid server as well.
