    Apparently there are shady salesmen who are offering credit card if you send your scanned copies of "Aadhaar card", PAN card and passport size photo. I can see a possibility of a big scam here.

    The CPU will throttle itself in case of high temperature (and shutdown if need be). The surrounding components may be vulnerable if not selected and/or positioned carefully - the aluminium electrolyte capacitors in the board will drastically reduce in life if they get heated up. The heat sink and fans need to be cleaned up if they are clogged and replaced if the fan stops working. The laptops plastic casing becomes weak after a long time of heat exposure. One of my old laptop's plastic casing near the heat exhaust became very brittle as potato chips after 8 years in service.

    Power adaptor - have electrolytic capacitors and hence same concern.

    Intel NUCs are damn cute. This particular one priced at Rs.23k (barebones), has i3-8th gen processor with good performance. Too bad that they lack portability.

    Completed a 36 hour, cycling mini tour consisting of 3 trips - 39k+75k+39k. Visited Thanjavur and Nidamangalam, though didn't see any special place there. It was a fairly satisfying but somewhat gruelling experience, but it took my mind of my never ending research work. Stayed in a hotel during the tour.

    wget is extremely useful in unreliable internet connections - my college's internet is poor with good bandwidth but frequent timeouts and broken connections. I get wget to retry again and again and resume broken downloads until it completes
