Come to think of it, so much of my upbringing has been couched in terms of *this* OR *that* thing. Choose your tribe. Computer wars. Brit pop. Even academic topics. Mastodon or Twitter is just another example. All of the best things, though, have come out of diverse things coming together, not apart.
Some people are happy with chaos, or have learned or been trained to sort through it. Others run screaming from chaos. There must be correlations between how people think about the world, and what they end up doing.
@northernjamie You're not at the 360giving data expedition in a couple of weeks are you? Planning on coming up to Manchester for it, thought I'd see if you're around to say hi :)
Most Mastodon servers are operated by people like you, out of their pocket. Check if your server has a Patreon! It's usually on the "About this instance" link, where the rules are. Support your admins, especially if they're not me!
Was really pleased with this, but ran out of time - would have loved to have been able to do another design iteration on it before the competition deadline. @deadsuperhero Because every little thing you do is magic. Or an action at least. And actions love nothing more than calls to action, which means buttons, squee!
@maiyannah Depends. What's a realistic timescale for a small business to develop a successful and philosophical business model? It's a good point though, as I'm considering investing. What would my link with the company be?
