So... after 2.5 years of owning a Thinkpad T400, first librebooting, then gradually modifying the shit out of it, I have to say that an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU is still completely sufficient for everything I'm doing today.
Everything packaged for Debian still runs perfectly smooth. And yes, this includes all the games.
I'm saying this because I want to make a stand against planned obsolescence and new hardware craze. Your old machine is very likely still fine. Please use it a little bit longer 🙂
I like self-organised systems, but capitalism itself is a particular type of self-organisation and the idea that humans don't always need to be in the loop leads to problems. It's exactly this kind of "bureucratic machine out of control and orthogonal to real human needs in which everyone is just following orders" aspect of capitalism which is the problem.
It always is! Thanks a lot for giving it thought and documentating the issues :)
This still will require hardcoding the extensions pre-compilation, right? That's fine for most use cases but wouldn't work for a "generic #ActivityPub server" that can support any activities/objects as in: https://social.coop/@mayel/100469525067581562
I am very interested if/how the library supports extensions, as that's a key requirement for a couple projects for which I'm looking for the best implementation approach, and your docs say that "ActivityStreams vocabulary supports extensions beyond the Core and Extended types. However, this will be outside the scope of this tutorial"
I'm opening a new site, which is a combo of both thematic and chronological static pages. WordPress is the obvious choice to do this, but I'm always eager to try something new. So what's the hip cms nowadays?
Points to note: - I am a humanist, not a computerist. I can write markdown in plaintext editor, but I don't want extensive tinkering with code. - Support for multilingual content out of the box is a big plus. - I don't care much about bells & whistles.
How to deal with #hate and #harassment? I'd like to read some resource, ideally about positive approaches and if they come from #feminism movement even better...
