    Da macht der Berliner Senat einmal was halbwegs vernünftiges und entscheidet sich für einen Anbieter aus #Berlin damit der sich um die eMail Postfächer der Lehrkräfte kümmert - und dann findet sich ein anderer Anbieter, ein großer aus den USA, der kann das bestimmt auch :-/ #FediLZ

    The 2022.12-rc branches have been created in the friendica/friendica and the friendica/friendica-addons repository and were made the default branches.

    Existing pull requests that were directed to the develop branch have been redirected to the new 2022.12-rc branch.

    Please only open new pull requests for bug fixes, documentation updates and translations against the 2022.12-rc branch (Exceptions as discussed above). New features should go into the development branch - though pretty please concentrate on fixing bugs and make rough edges smooth for the upcoming 2022.12 release.

    A proper announcement will follow later today.

    I would love to see the public calendar feature in this release, as I use the calendar a lot for the Berlin FSFE Supporter group account. And I agree, that basic reporting might be this release exception from no new features during the RC phase as it is rather important to have it.

    FRe;AK Stammtischzeit

    Am 5.12. ab 19 Uhr ist in der @c-base e.V. ☑️ wieder Zeit für den FRe;AK Stammtisch, einem Stammtisch für Menschen die im Fediverse unterwegs sind, sei das jetzt mit Friendica, Hubzilla, FunkWhale, Misskey oder sonst einem Dienst der ActivityPub unterstützt, vollkommen egal - kommt vorbei, lasst uns palavern über all die schönen Dinge des Fediverse.

    Wobei @waldstepper hatte vorgeschlagen über eines der weniger schönen Themen zu sprechen, nämlich "Fake Profile". Wird sicherlich trotzdem ein netter Abend werden ;-)

    Die c-base findet ihr in der Rungestraße 20 (Hinterhof, direkt am Wasser) unweit vom Bhf. Jannowitzbrücke.

    Ok, now for real - November is almost over. I'd like to ask the developers if they plan to add something new to Friendica, do it now. We have a real deadline this December for the release, so I'd like to enter the RC phase to squash undocumented features and other rough edges early December.

    The LOAD went up from 0.2-0.6 to 0.5-1.0 (from 4CPU) roughly. I've not written it down precisely but these numbers stuck in my memory.

    I'm curious how has the system LOAD on the server changed with the current growth of the Fediverse. On my RasPi4 the LOAD has roughly been doubled. Which might be not only caused by the growth of the Fediverse, as I have also re-enabled the relay server again shortly before the take over but have not disabled it again.

    That is what I mean @LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} most of the time it works and then there are a few occacions when one just needs to write a bit more and either shortens the text with cryptinc letter combinations, or starts a thread of shortened messeges.

    @7homas ♓ sometimes it just have to be more then just 500 characters to write sentences in a posting so they make sense. And having a thread of replies combined holding the entrire text, is just a poor hack bypassing the artificial limit.

    For many things 500 might be enough. But the pure existence of these threads composing a bigger posting, just shows to me that the limit is wrong.

    How do people live with 500 characters as limit? Just writing short replies often leads to longer texts for me.

    Sure having this limit would likely enforce it. But just being free to write longer texts ( and if only slightly longer) feels good.

    Am Montag soll es bei unserem monatlichen Fediverse Treffen https://horche.demkontinuum.de/display/f3ad7b1c-4463-5b6a-405e-6d3181598340 in #Berlin um Blocklisten im Fediverse gehen. Dazu wird es einen kurzen Einführungsvortrag geben, und anschließend hoffe ich auf eine erkenntnisreiche Diskussion zum Thema.

    Almost ;-) and as there is a reason to really do the release in December I just wanted to get the deadline known.

    A friend always says, that the year feels like it is over after her birthday. Which is in February. And in most of the years time flies after her birthday somewhat acellerated ;-)
