Open source project XOREOS released version 0.0.5 "Dawn Star".

The purpose of xoreos is enabling to play RPGs from Bioware's golden age natively on Linux, such as Jade Empire & The Knights of the Old Republic (Lucasarts).

They desperately need more hands on board though!

More developers are required to reimplement those 3D BioWare RPGs. If you can help, please contact 'em:

Progress for screen sharing in Wayland sessions on Linux desktop.

Jan Grulich with Red Hat collegues Tomáš Popela and Eike Rathke, have been working for past few weeks on bringing support for screen sharing on Wayland to web browsers.

All modern browsers use WebRTC for all audio-video communication, including screen sharing.

Jan has set up a repository containing changes so you can test it yourself, make sure that Pipewire is running.

Jolla: Gemini PDA into the Sailfish OS family!

"We are working with Planet Computers to bring Sailfish OS to their brilliant Gemini PDA.

The current release of Sailfish OS for the Gemini PDA is a community edition which includes basic Sailfish OS features, with no third-party software.

After some distro hopping for almost a year (mostly debian/ubuntu based), I found Solus (@SolusProject). It's the perfect blend of linux for my taste. I use it every day. So I became a patron on patreon today. If you find an open source project that enables you to do the things you want to do, I encourage you to support it in some way as well.

SiFive to release all source code to initialize HiFive Unleashed RISC-V single board computer.

    The first Linux-capable, multi-core, RISC-V processor – the Freedom U540.

Aside from being open source and customizable, one of the main benefits of RISC-V is that it's fully modern, purpose built, & unburdened with legacy code.

An open source hardware helps the industry become more competitive.
