@Alonealastalovedalongthe Not only all that Ultimate and Gold amnesty, GitLab also is going to add support for federation (like what Mastodon has), which means you can fork it if you don't like the direction it's heading, or want to host your own instance.

GitLab "Ultimate" and "Gold" for self hosting now free for education and open source.
This is GitLab taking this massive opportunity after Microshaft swallowed GitHub and making the best of it.
The more people are moving over now, the better their own future will be in the long run.
GitLab also make migration easier, starting the #movingtogitlab campaign with a straight-forward video etc.
GitLab is open source itself, too.

tomorrow is the day i get rid of google play services and hopefully finally sever all ties with the Beast itself. that coupled with amazon leaving my country, i no longer will use any services from any of the big 5 (MS, APPL, GOOG, FACE, AMAZ)
good riddance!

@giannhsts It is a work in progress, it's amazing how they've managed to slide in to be available to more and more people in that almost *impossible* market situation.
Now in partnership with Sony and SailfishOS 3.0 incoming, it will be an interesting next year for Jolla. More and more supported devices are coming, too.
Then there will be that Purism / Librem stance... No need to purchase a Gulag Android device no more :thinkhappy:

I was already planning on moving to #GitLab, but the recent acquisition by Microsoft has finally made me jump over. There is no way I will ever trust them with anything.

Micro$oft is buying GitHub?
A home for countless open source projects and their source code, GitHub, has been shown interest from M$.
Thanks to GNOME Project and Debian Linux guidance has been shed on how to prepare for the mass FOSS migration. CLA (Contributor License Agreement) has been removed, features has been added.
GitLab can optionally be self hosted, too.
