Reading up on Rapa Nui's story is like a story of resilience in the face of collapse and I'm surprised there are descendants of the original islanders.

@a_breakin_glass they're a subset of nerd, but yeah

Observation about semantic web (sweeping generalisation):
Half of its proponents are nerds.
The other half are SEO assholes.

When I speak of adaptation I speak of making things like content creation easier.

(Partially hoisted from one of my threads)
Every time we sop to the machine, we make computers that much more hostile to humans, and humans suffer for it. And what do we get for it? Practically nothing but making some nerds happy.
Machines must adapt to man. Man should not adapt to machines, not when usability is involved.

I see no reason to make things more readable by machine (we already have reliable search engine indexing) except for the dream of enabling surveillance capitalism and state surveillance as well.
I am sure most of the people who like the idea are well-intentioned, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The web is for humans. Not machines.
Machines must adapt to humans and the way humans do things, not the other way around.
I do agree with some elements of making things more standard for easier processing by clients, but I do not agree with the idea of semantic web making things parseable by machine.
The dream of analysability by machines makes things that much easier to process by governments and companies who pimp out your data.
I don't like it.

The Interlinked Foundation, not to be confused with the Interlinked Foundation. One is a tax shelter for a VC douchebag who operates in the social/mass media space. The other wants to make VC douchebags obsolete in the social/mass media space.

I've been doing some snooping around at this other Interlinked Foundation in Georgia
It is connected to this guy: https://www.linkedin.com/in/delraywannemacher
Who previously operated Interlinked, Inc., which perhaps did one of the douchiest sounding things ever: "Interlinked is a global investment platform that connects investors, companies and partners by leveraging technology, media and physical events."
That venture seems to be out of business, but he kept the foundation. Prolly a tax shelter.
