@natecull Cyberia (rushkoff) is a fascinating book. Dreams in the early 90s.

I'm trying to say that there was an 80s we could have had, and 40 years later there's still a 2020s we could have.
It seems like we've lost decades but it's actually not too late. It's always just as close as wanting it. Time means nothing in the place where the glow comes from.
But you have to want it.
You have to know it's there, or even just hope and guess, and then you have to reach in to the dreamspace and try to hold the glow in your head, in your heart, in your hands and feet.

"Never sleep if you want to win" bros are to me like incels --- particularly disturbing, because I find them reflections of myself in a particularly toxic mirror.
I, personally, work a little most every day, because that happens to fit my style. My job is astoundingly flexible (research position, so no teaching; theory, so not tied to a lab spatially or temporally). And there's basically a continuum of activity between "serious work" and faffing off. I can read old physics papers or brush up on math that's tangential to my research project, and it's pretty much like a paid hobby. I can get totally high on that legal Massachusetts weed and scribble down ideas for new things to investigate, and sometimes in the morning they still make sense. Watching a math video to see if I can recommend it to a prof colleague as a teaching aid is only slightly more demanding than kicking back with the BA test kitchen.
Lucky in physics, unlucky in love.

@juliobiason the rumors are weird. I don't see G dropping it.
If you're looking for an ethical cloud provider that's pro-class, I don't know of any. I don't really consider budget providers pro. Ergo, just get the best one.

@jankoekepan Crystal balls are not available.
I don't think the impeachment process will substantially change the minds of any voters; possibly they will simply solidify existing partisans.

@jankoekepan The political calculations are not good in any way you cut the cake.
The ethical calculations are lucid clear, and I'm rather over talking about them.

@jankoekepan So.
I am disinterested in any both-sidesism. Trump & the GOP are generally some flavor of fascism, depending on the day and the individual.
If someone wants to come up and both-sides at me, they are welcome to depart and reflect on their ability to argue that the modern fascist project is equal to the modern democratic project.

Bluntly, I don't care about appearing "hateful" or appealing to people who are still on the fence.
Anyone paying attention & with any sense of sanity saw Trump for what he was in 2015, 2016. Continued events have shown how bad things were, and worse.
Any undecidedness today is a result of dedicated & wilful blindness and a radical disinterest in the American democratic project.
In 2015, I didn't like Obama, and was not a Democrat. It was crystal clear.

@jankoekepan so: yes. I support impeachment, I hope it a fair trial (but have some doubts there), yet judge it worthy of doing.

@jankoekepan I judge it worthy.
I attend to the polls a bit, and it looks like things essentially are sorting out to be GOP = support trump, Dem = against trump, independent = dislike trump, mostly.
What that means for 2020 potus election, I couldn't say. I expect it'll wind up coming down to swing states voters who show up / stay home, much like 2016.

@jankoekepan I think it is worth it, in the sense that Congress has abdicated its power far too much to the executive branch for the past 25 years. Enforcing its will upon the Executive is something that is overdue. (I rather hoped it would get a lot feistier with Obama, to be frank - either we have Congress judge the Executive or Congress tries to be Parliment).
n.b., I don't think it solidified support that wasn't already latent.
