I'm reading Logan's Run, the novel that inspired the movie. While the movie is a fairly straight-forward story, the novel is way more bat-shit. Murderous children. A mentally unstable cyborg ice sculptor. A giant maze of pneumatic tubes that rapidly take cars to all known parts of the inhabited world, including a mostly abandoned underwater city...

It's definitely not a work of literary genius, but it's super entertaining and fast-paced. If you like weird sci-fi, I highly recommend it.

@msh Basically, yeah. Ironically(?), if the German side had won WWI, the second world war may not have happened, though, which is kind of a trip to consider.

Years ago, my wife and I were watching this YouTube series about WWI. She asked me, in the absence of a clear Nazi-type evil empire, why it would have been so bad if Germany had won. And, honestly, I didn't have a good answer. And this was before I grasped how truly and utterly pointless WWI was.

@natecull I like the quote, but I also think there hasn't been a just war since WWII, and even that's debatable because it likely wouldn't have happened had the utterly pointless imperial WWI not happened.

@keithzg I haven't played much in the last few weeks either, tbh. Skyping with some guy who is into stick dulcimers tonight though, so maybe that'll inspire me.

So when I moved over to this instance, I imported my following and blocked lists, but not my mute list. I figured I'd start from scratch with that one, since I often mute people and then forget to unmute them.

Aaaaand...my first new mute (re-mute, actually) goes to the @doctorow bot. Way to much content getting pushed out by that thing. Some of it is interesting, but it's way too much.

@msh Thanks! I saw it pop up when I was looking at instances.social and thought, "I already follow msh and if his server is accepting new registrations, why not go with someone I kinda already know?" And, bonus, you're also located in Alberta so that's fun.
