Lay it on me.
Is Dungeons & Dragons fun? I see & hear about it a lot, but I don't know if it's worth finding someone to play with.

Someone on here said something about "non-tech mailing lists"
I was talking a while ago about missing forum sites.
There's probably a reason this hasn't been done, but...
What if there was this forum-ish website software, where, instead of using your email to make an account, sending an email is the way you reply to a thread in a collection of "topics" (each "topic" is its own mailing list)
I didn't even know #XFCE was installable (and runnable) on Debian GNU/Hurd!
It works flawlessly (well, the file manager crashes) so far. Slow as heck on my QEMU image, but it's still really neat.
#Moka icons and the #Arc theme also work well.
As usual, I cannot easily startx as a non-root user. I need to look into this further.
Since I've been struggling to understand them for quite some time now, I've written an article about Guile-OpenGL. The bindings aren't particularly challenging to figure out, but there are so few articles about them and I haven't uploaded in ages.

I thought the #Reddit "Cake Day" was the user's birthday, but I guess it's the day they created their account 🤔
I was just confused for the longest time because I created my account on my birthday.
"Time and I"
This slowish pop song song feels so... Generic, yet I love it!
Want to have a good time? Go watch a foreign video on YouTube then turn on "Generate subtitles" to get some great Engrish.👌
If there's one thing I love, it's the README file for the WindowMaker window manager
So I ordered me some flash memory for my #iPod. I replaced the battery with a high capacity one a while ago.
I didn't even know about #RockBox (operating system) until now: https://www.rockbox.org/
Now this thing lasts 2 weeks of regular usage on a single charge!
But it's not quite modern yet. I want to replace the 30-pin proprietary port with USB-C. I know I said I wouldn't, I'm just not sure if it's possible. Do any of you tech-savvy people know if this is a low-risk/possible hack? Thanks 👍
In an alternate universe...
The first message sent across the Internet, the sender initially writing "Love you", the program crashed, sending only:
"Lo"
When the receiver asked "What was that message again?" The sender let out a sigh, "Login... it was going to be Login." 💔
I still need to fix up that Guile tutorial, but I got carried away writing an introduction to #Emacs GUI customization (maybe I should rename the article to "Beautifying Emacs") 🤔
Hey KDE, I'm no mathematician, but I don't think 28 goes into 5 🤔
One million people quit Facebook in Q4 2017! #GNUSocial for the win!
Ohh I always thought the * in U*x was a wildcard referring to "all Unix-like systems", but it's just a way to spell "Unix" without getting in any legal trouble with TOG?
(Or so I've gathered from
https://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/history/hurd-announce )
I used to just run GNU/Hurd with KVM. I still do but today I was introduced to the --curses flag, which makes the VM itself just run inside the terminal! On top of that, since it's just in my terminal, it keeps my current keyboard layout & favourite font!
I have never seen #Hurd look so nice!

Intel: "Oh whoops, we wanted to be able to control your PC through a MINIX installation inside your CPU's Management engine to get a few extra bucks, but it totally backfired, we had no idea that an exploit would be found so soon. Sorry 'bout that. Please don't @ us, instead talk to your motherboard manufacturers pls thx!"

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for logic & reason, but I am and will probably continue to remain Catholic. But don't throw me in with the weird faith healing stereotype, I think homosexuality, transgenderism and the like is all great!
@djsundog Totally! And the fact that they open-sourced it in 2012 is just icing on the cake! It looks like a few people add bits of code every now and then, so I'm glad it's still getting some attention!
Anyone else really like the 90's windowing systems (Think CDE / Windows 95)?
Modern environments such as GNOME or KDE seem to be moving in more of a "space age" or "modern" direction. Don't get me wrong I *adore* these DEs, but when I'm feeling nostalgiac I tend to think about these things...
Notice how CDE looks like it's sculpted with clay, and tinted different colours. I think that's really cool! That's really all I wanted to say. https://functional.cafe/media/E4oTXeMlvDoK5TQsjbY
