Yeah this was about *making requests* not contributing code. And even then, I don't understand why someone would contribute code and expect to get paid unless that was a clear arrangement from the beginning. Like you wouldn't post a fix and later be like "And now you owe me $$$!"

I dunno. The spirit of people being involved in a community software project for the fun/as a freely given contribution to culture and technology/to make the world a better place seems absent in some quarters.

Just... a lot of people seem to expect money in return for their project/community involvement. I saw that someone started asking for money after their feature requests they posted on Github were implemented, and you can't spit without hitting someone's Patreon link.

Like I saw this thing about how some people want to be paid for making feature requests on the Mastodon github.

It's weird how much the Mastodon community ecosystem is about getting paid.

That is historically accurate b/c in the 80s escalators hadn't been invented yet and people had to climb up.and down ladders to go anywhere. That is also why everyone from the 80s was so much thinner in the 80s and wore leotards everywhere, even to throw barrels at giant monkeys.
