I think that certain segments of the user base are louder and more aggressive than others, and the people quietly doing their own thing and living their lives, which is most of them, tend to fly under the radar and not be involved in the giant drama implosions

I don't think this an unpopular opinion. I think thinking it's an unpopular opinion is an example of pluralistic ignorance (which You Are Not So Smart podcast just did a great episode on)
