@bob @matt C64s were big back home to ... but it was a much more diverse market in the UK than it was in the US. Here we also had the Dragon, the BBC Micro, and so on, along with the Commodore C64 and the C128, but in the US it was pretty much just that
@verius It becomes a lot easier to understand why it does things the way it does when you learn that it was essentially designed for the US Department of Defense.
@bob @sim I don't want it over this, because it means idiots will likely just flock to Brussels instead of Westminster. Neither gives a fuck about us and both will exploit us. Plus, SNP can go fuck themselves, the nationalist twats.
The brexit thing isn't really about xenophobia, although there is always a quotient of that. It's a power struggle between the westminster and brussels governments over who gets to make laws. Who owns the proles on this particular runway strip. The manner in which both of these create laws is opaque and very corrupted by lobbyists.
The reason why people, especially on birdsite, get so riled up is that they do want genuine control over their lives and communities. But neither westminster nor brussels has the intention of delivering that, and nor can they.
The current economy consists mostly of scams anf oppressive stuff. We've had a lost decade of austerity and food banks and other really grim stuff. It's not surprising that people want more autonomy, and to dismiss that as xenophobia is to miss the point.
@purplehippo I don't want to oversell it, the plot turns were fairly predictable, but they were at least interesting things.

Annah@purplehippo Its like any of the earlier Ass Creed games. Its not bad, but they're all basically the same thing. The appeal with Black Flag is PIRATES! but they never really do much with it other than some cameos. Rogue actuallyt had some interesting plot turns in an Assassain dude going over to the Templar and exploring the consequences thereof, and the fact that made the game actually interesting is probably why they never went any further with it. Interesting isn't "safe".

Annah@purplehippo I would in fact actually say the story elements they added actively are to the game's detriment. Before, the main characters had a sort of base personality expressed through their characters, a general persona, and that's it. They became fairly projected-upon by their respective players and people would invent their own little stories, which made people somewhat attached to them. 2 having the story elements for the characters like that essentially makes them a singular character where they weren't before, and that appeal is lost.
