@ngp Yeah, but sometimes the goal is not to get a good price-quality ratio but really just get the lowest possible price for a specific feature set, and them being able to hit 10$ for a working "computer" was impressive regardless (though probably part of why it couldn't last).
But yeah, the thing is obviously made for people like me who like having devices with a neat concept but never actually uses them, because there's just too many issues for it to be truly usable.
I don't know what to do with this thing, tbh. I'm supposed to receive a DevTerm sometimes this year and that's gonna make the PocketCHIP pretty useless as a field terminal. The keyboard on the PocketCHIP has only ever been tolerable for a very short amount of time, the whole thing is super underpowered and badly supported (abandoned proprietary blobs and abandoned hardware in general).
Not that I have ever had any real use for it; I just like really having a field terminal.
@hector@solidsanek Eh, it's fine as long as it's a massive (as in 50% or more) rebate over the usual price and that it's not a shitty destination that no one would go on vacation to. The idea being that the airline can fill up flights to less popular destinations that would be way under-booked otherwise, and the customer gets a cheap flight to a vacation destination. I'd do it if I had a vacation coming up and no strong preference where to spend it.
@hfaust Tbh he shouldn't even have to apologize for some of these things, but whatever, it's sometimes necessary to accomodate peace. More importantly, it puts the onus on his detractors to spit on the apology in front of everyone, which is bad PR.
