He lived a dot-com existence for a year, promised six figures by a host of sponsors. The year ended on Sunday, and DotComGuy, derided by Net "purists," vanished without a trace ... and, perhaps, without much money. By Michelle Delio.

I don't arrive until Thursday and the Christmas family bullshit has already begun...not that presents didn't already start that a bit.

I think next year my policy is going to be, if you have to ask me about the gift, don't fucking buy it.

Since a few people are reposting my terrible idea from this morning, keep reading in the thread for why it won't work (too expensive, not portable enough)

As far as I'm concerned, Jose should get until the "end" of the season. As soon as it's mathematically impossible for him to make top 4, he gets axe. There's zero reason for this squad not to make the top 4, even with injuries.

Somehow, the idea of a vi user group in Minneapolis called "VI Kings" just occurred to me. !minnesota

btw, some of the "gaps" that were left in the activitypub spec were intentionally there to enable this to exist https://github.com/WebOfTrustInfo/rebooting-the-web-of-trust-fall2017/blob/master/final-documents/activitypub-decentralized-distributed.md

for example "why didn't activitypub require https as the only valid uri scheme / protocol"

well, the solution to the "content surviving when nodes go down" may rely on the fact that this was left open: https://github.com/WebOfTrustInfo/rwot7/blob/master/topics-and-advance-readings/magenc.md

I guess the other thing is I'm probably not the most qualified, but they are headquartered in Minneapolis, which might be a plus, even for a remote position.

    Tempted to look past this:

Astropad – Software that turns the iPad into a high-end drawing tablet.
Luna Display – The first hardware solution that turns the iPad into a wireless second display.

However, I really do need something remote, and it's a management position, which would be good for the career

@lnxw48a1 right but I don't know anyone in those states other than @cwebber and @craigmaloney and neither of them is coming here if for no other reason than we are not a technical office. We have one technical writer and 2 support people. The rest of the support team is in London, Sydney, or Alameda. Although, the new acquisition will probably mean new offices too. Who knows where those will be.

We learned yesterday that we're going to double in size again in a couple of months. That probably means more job postings, but since I don't really know anyone on here in !minnesota I guess the odds of finding someone are still not good.
