it was designed by a guy that lives on a boat right? I think Manyverse might well make sense for that situation.

and by some...8 of them, although I bet Hawaii is a lot bigger if you include all the ocean between the islands, which I only mention to say that distribution in Hawaii has got to be a logistical nightmare.

@lnxw48a1 I haven't heard any mention of my team getting a new US-based position. There was talk of hiring in India for timezone purposes but I do wonder if when that job does finally come out if it will have the option for US hires as well.

I mentioned this before, but new manager on the team since you last applied.

The old manager was (is, I guess, he moved to marketing) a shoot-from-the-hip kind of guy. I think he saw .NET and that was 27 outs. game over.

That said, who knows what would have happened if no pandemic. That job never opened up after the hiring freeze.

In any case, I have built up a lot of rapport with the new manager, and I think he'll take my suggestion seriously (another thing we didn't have the first time around since I was new to the team).

so, I was asked not to say anything about this, but I think here is fine (rather than facebook, LinkedIn, twitter or in our company slack). I got a raise! Not everyone did, which is why I was asked to keep quiet.

Some of our product lines missed targets, but when the US Economy was down overall, the fact that we made money is to be celebrated.

If you would like to join such a company, we have many types of positions, in many locations...and some remote-available positions: https://www.perforce.com/careers

#rancher and #k8s folks, my knowledge on the subject is limited, but this sounds to me like when it gets reenabled it is getting a new name. Does that sound correct? Any ideas?
"After creating the new project I navigated to the Project → Tools → Monitoring in the rancher GUI and clicked the ‘Enable’ button without changing any values. The grafana WORKED!, but disabling it, waiting for it to be removed, and then Re-enabling it causes the same effect. "

yep, that was it. I was thinking about this...I think last night. I think probably what Apple does is phase shifting, not innovation. I think they likely come in late in the early adopter curve, but I think they have the pull to largely determine that curve. Like, as long as the market is truly out of the innovation phase, when Apple comes in, that pushed the market into early majority. Now, I don't think this is just Apple's pull. I think Apple does the market research and fine tunes enough to get a product they think can push it over the hump.

In hindsight, one thing that makes Google Glass so interesting is that it was borderline off the chart in front. The other thing that makes it interesting is Google's long-standing history of just closing down projects. I really don't see how they get enough R&D out of all those closed down projects to keep doing it. Maybe they finally learned their lesson about open sourcing stuff, but then again, I still don't think they have given Istio to CNCF...or is it a different project. Anyway, I still think there are some internal struggles at Google. Not that I have any deep insight. I'm not involved deeply in any open source project, but as you no doubt know, on the surface of many. That's my take from what I've seen, anyway.

What is interesting about MSFT here is that they seem to give zero fucks about mass adoption. It's a strategy I don't understand at all considering the XBox, but I do understand considering their general Enterprise play.

more often than not, when it comes to teachers, the person with the masters does not get the job because the person with the bachelors is cheaper.

#maven gurus, `mvn package ` does not work for #WSO2 API Manager. there is a colossal amount of debug output. Any tips on where I should start?

I guess there's a certain amount of innovation in Apple's "our way or the highway" approach to things like USB-C, but I think Apple learned with the Newton what Google learned with Glass. True innovation is expensive and often there is no market.

It's a shame things didn't take off sooner with Google Glass, because I think VR/AR could have been useful for a lot of people during the pandemic. Ultimately, I think AR is more interesting and useful than VR, but idk who is going to take the leap there after what happened with Glass.

I personally used smart phones and tablets before Apple entered the market. Apple got the mouse from Xerox. They have never been anything but copycats.

the iPhone came years after the Blackberry. That's the primary example of Apple NOT being a leader.
