cuidado, que a semelhança é ainda maior: nenhum dos dois é e2ee. xmpp tem extensões que permitem e2ee, mas sem utilizá-las nos clientes, os operadores dos nodos intermediários têm acesso às mensagens privadas, mesmo que elas trafeguem cifradas entre clientes e nodos

eu vou querer uns 30 exemplares, por favor! :-P

> what kind of shit is this?
the kind that @pluralistic writes about when he denounces enshittification

achei-o meio cheio de contradição.
não sei o que veio trazer senão anseio

I started learning it from a friend who was dating a Japanese-speaking girl and learning it from her, some 30 years ago, but that stint was short. I started over, pretty much from scratch, about a couple of years ago maybe, going very very slowly and moved only by curiosity about different languages
-
thanks, it looks like you're way ahead of me in learning Japanese :-)

the GPL defends freedom
the source of confusion is that people conflate freedom (control over one's own life) and power (control over others), and find (and resent, presumably) that the GPL gives them freedom, but not power to exert over others

I mean, kings would lead their armies
and presidents are *elected* to represent the people

quisera eu ter um jeito de arquivar, em vez de apagar. perder memória não é algo que me interesse.

boa sorte pra vocês

mas somar o uptime de todas as suas máquinas virtuais como se fosse seu tempo de vida não vale!

katakana is used for words brought in from other languages. presumably animals that the Japanese have long been familiar with have native terms, that thus get written in kanji or hiragana. other animals that were integrated in the language by foreign influence get katakana. I infer from the spelling in hiragana that the Japanese have long known dolphins.
what caught me by surprise was learning that ramen is spelled with katakana. I'd have guessed it was "native" from Japan. but that would be a mistake. the word is borrowed from Mandarin, which suggests that the dish originated in China.

I mean, every contemporary empire must have its own cyber army to counter threats to their narratives in online communities
that can be measured by the amount of verbal violence that people who pose threats to the system get
that's how I can tell that I don't pose a threat. the part of the cyber army in charge of keeping an eye on me spends most of its time ignoring me like most everyone else ;-D

muito obrigado! faz tempo que eu tinha na minha lista de coisas pra fazer buscar o jeito de fazer isso pela linha de comando

oops, posted too soon
finally, sovereign nations moderate themselves through accountability, balance of powers and more,
and they also moderate each other by sanctions, wars, and more
but don't get me started on megacorporations ;-)
-
you're entitled to your views and opinions, of course, but that strikes me as too narrow a view of moderation
people self-moderate, for one. that's about abiding by one's own self-imposed rules.
network nodes and networks moderate users, and that, as you say, is about enforcing compliance with nodes' and network's rules
collectives in general moderate members, by establishing rules and agreements, that may involve getting members expelled or more
societies moderate members, through legal systems, cultural norms, violence, and more

as long as they have power to twiddle the configurations to serve their own interests
but there's a defense against enshittification: freedom

what guto said. it's really simple:
overthrowing the democratically established powers through undemocratic means is against the law.
inciting crimes is also against the law.

bom pra ficar sabendo que editar pôstes é coisa do mastodon que não tem respaldo nem compatibilidade com o resto do fediverso. a correção não chega pra todo mundo que recebe o pôste original. no caso do servidor que eu uso, pelo que pude observar, o primeiro pôste que chega fica em definitivo, mesmo que seja editado depois
