Better Blocker for iOS 12 is now live.

Two weeks ago, I wrote that we wanted to radically simplify Better and widen its reach (https://ar.al/2018/08/27/better-blocker-two-year-review-and-thoughts-on-the-future/). With this release, we took the first steps towards that goal. We distilled the app to its essentials (taking it from 44MB to 11MB in the process) & lowered the price to the lowest tier on the App Store ($0.99/£0.99/€1.09).

Right folks, so I have two confirmations (one in USD and one in Euros – and another just flashed by in USD as I was writing this) that the old price is still in the store for some people so hold off of buying the latest version of Better until the price change propagates.

I’m going to hold off making more noise about it until tomorrow to give it a chance to update in all stores.

@PeteForsyth Well, I’d trust them far more than the neoliberal/Google-washing institution that censored them (New America – and their buds “Ranking Rights” which every year give Google top marks in privacy). I mean, they may have “market” in their name but it seems like they’re against monopolies so I’m cool with their stated purpose at least. (I don’t know anything further about them.)

@Erik_vd_Veen @better Hey Erik, yes, we dropped the price as we’d like to see wider adoption so that it can have a greater impact on the bottom lines of companies that make a living by eroding our privacy ;)

I haven’t seen the price drop propagate to all stores yet so I’m holding off on making more noise about it. I don’t want people to buy it at the higher price by mistake :)
