GNOME remembers the display settings of different monitor combinations!

So, if I just have my laptop’s screen on, it knows to use 4K@ 300%. Since it can’t do different scales for different screens, when I plug my 21" 4K monitor, it knows to display that at 4K@200% but scale the laptop to 2,560Ɨ1,440@200% (which keeps things legible). But if I plug in my tiny 1080i Lilliput output monitor, resolutions change to 1,920Ɨ1,080@200% on all so I can simulate my presentation environment.

    Amazing!

Children are our future not because one day they will grow up but precisely because they aren’t grown ups. Precisely because you haven’t yet had a chance to indoctrinate them with your bullshit and break their spirits. Our future depends on them not becoming ā€œgrown upsā€ like us.

Are you surprised that they are immune to your bullshit? That they are afraid of and anxious about what is truly worthy of fear and anxiety instead of what you need them to fear so you can perpetuate your corrupt and reeking power hierarchies?

Then again, is it surprising? Kids have nothing to lose. You haven’t managed to shackle them yet with your student loans, your rat races, your myths about professionalism; your manufactured fears and anxieties about managing to subsist in your inequitable societies.

What does it say about the utter impotence of our mainstream democratic institutions that the demographic leading the charge to save our own habitat from destruction is one that doesn’t even have representation? Democracy isn’t a vote, it’s a struggle. It’s giving a damn.

He stood alone at his school in Ck-on-Shannon, Co. #Leitrim for #ClimateStrike - but he stood there in the knowledge that millions of kids, all over the world are standing with him today.

    Very proud Mum moment!

Can someone recommend a T-Shirt (Poster, other stuff) printing Service with API? I'd love to keep this feature alive for @beetlesbot or upcoming projects.

Blockchain: decentralisation centralised on my coin.

Hint: the core of decentralisation isn’t about having a billion copies of the same database. It’s about a billion people each having their own, unique database.

PS. In a truly decentralised system, no one makes a billion dollars. *watches all the right libertarians make for the door*

PPS. A venture capitalist would never invest in a truly decentralised system. Why? See PS, above.

    Capitalism in a nutshell:

    1. Invest all money in businesses that exploit natural resources (the environment/people) in an unquenchable, shortsighted & illogical thirst for perpetual growth within a closed system.

    2. When ramifications become visible, blame the people forced to patronise those businesses due to lack of alternatives for being irresponsible in their personal consumption choices.

Rinse and repeat until we all die because we’ve destroyed our habitat.

So, how’s your week going? :)

Security isn’t about protecting everything from everything. It’s knowing what you’re protecting from what (and what you’re not protecting). That’s why we use threat models.

An analogy: you don’t protect food from the environment; you protect different types of food from different factors of the environment. You might design a heat lamp to protect the freshness of your dinner but a freezer for your ice cream. What you don’t do is design a heat lamp and assume it’ll protect your ice cream also.

OK, so beyond the battle between Big Tech and Big Media, here’s what I want to know: how does this (does it?) effect peer-to-peer, e2e-encrypted non-commercial platforms?

Course no one is talking about that as we don’t have millions to pay shills/lobbyists.
