@davidak Iām sure thereās nothing wrong with it but that doesnāt mean itās right for what I want to do (have a single-tenant focused web server that can be extended by Node.js and is zero configuration). So, the Node.js difference aside, see https://github.com/mholt/caddy and remove the āif the caddy binary has permission to bind toā requirement and replace āhow you choose to run Caddy is up to youā with automatic built-in process management and you get ~ Indie Web Server ;)
@w3bk3rn3l Right now, no; you will need to be able to commission a VPS server and ssh into it. But that is my eventual hope. And it will make it easier for developers to create small tech that is easy for people to get started with. One (early) piece of the puzzle :)
Systemd rewrite of Indie Web Server daemon functionality is now complete and works like a charm. Getting very close to the standalone binary release. Very excited :)
What kind of a world have we built where we have to justify, in writing, something as natural as parents visiting their children? Thatās exactly what I just had to do so my Turkish parents can get a visa to visit me in Ireland. Hereās the letter of invitation I just wrote.
@nyquildotorg Donāt know about the rest but npm itself is heaven-sent when used with packages by the āsmall techā side of the JS community like the DAT Project folks and that greater community.
Open Broadcaster Software Studio (OBS Studio) is an amazing free software realtime switcher for live streaming and recording that works across all major platforms including Linux.
I used it to record my Introducing Indie Web Server video this week. Right after that, I also recorded the second short video in the link to show you my setup
@rosjackson Indeed, within our current, corrupt, centralised, hierarchical political structures, the vote is hugely important. What percentage of your agency on issues filters through that is debatable and changeable depending on the specifics of the country/supranational entity weāre considering. But letās also start planning for and building infrastructure to enable non-hierarchical politics to decentralise power and increase individual agency in the political process.
