what you mean by:
>question to ask thyself is why the said companies who exploit the said extremes also employees or support the people who are also opposed to it ?
as in, google hiring engineerings and more hardcore engineers are pro open source?
i don't get what you mean.
@mangeurdenuage hard to say.
I couldn't think in any reasoned way if it'd be better or worse.
but my biased guess is, it would be better. Namely, we would have more privacy, more actual freedom as programer (eg make a living by writing software), and sjw may not be as severe today. people would buy quality software that's trust worthy, able to switch. or actually share quality software...
...i guess am thinking if the world went with less ideologies.

remember that Julian Assange has been holed up in a room for many years. In many ways, it's worse than prison. You can't go outside, can't feel the sun, can't visit a doc. For some people, you'd lost your mind already.
“how browsers work” By Tali Garsiel http://taligarsiel.com/Projects/howbrowserswork1.htm
saw that some 5 years ago. Only today am reading it. Rather disappointed on how beginner it is. Perhaps due to i've studied parser since, and lots similar articles during.
@progo the bottom line is, consider what was the original goal of fsf or open source. It was, empower small individuals. The result today, compared to 20 years ago, is the extreme opposite.
@progo those vast majority linux servers u r citing, r there because it's $free$.
for the phone case, it gave us no privacy, propelled the evil empire google n fb.
should've checked the thread if u interested in actual opinion.
you r not listening. As agenda show said, on diff planet. What was the word used... planet2 or something.
it is truly a crime, that WHATWG killed xml and promoted the wildly complex and growing complex html5

interesting. It works now.
before, most search words shows "error".
@hippieNdisguise in my opinion, it is due to fanatical attitudes of the open source or fsf. Namely, blindly follow an ideology. Result is, mismatching reality, so, it just falls off.
better is, believing in open source or fsf in sense that software code or data should benefit small persons, and anti corp dark practice such as invasion of privacy, lockin practice etc. All, with respect to workable reality. Then, i think we'd have far greater success.
@jeffcliff no. that has little to do with it.
the FSF boat is in fact worse. FSF's software, has become no relevance to the world today. If all FSF suddenly go disappear, the world wouldn't feel a thing.
@jeffcliff by taking over, if u mean, android such that average citizens can'd benefit nothing from it even programers, and are monitored 24/7 with no privacy whatsoever. Yes.
20 years ago, i thought linux would take over. Never actually did that a bit. turns out, tech hardware etc keep cropping up, usb, phone, new i/o, graphics cards, linux is always 5 years behind. And now, cloud, siri, cortana, etc, linux can never compete, even in theory.
the most hateful, is the open source fsf linux fuckheads. It is they, who helped to make sure, that linux won't go anywhere.
