@jeremiah @SLRock the real force behind fsf, is not "do good for humanity", but rather, the antagonism of "if you don't buy my morality, you should die.". That's what funds religion. That's what GPL is about, and this antagonistic retribution aspect, is what powers the fanaticism of FSF/OpenSource.

most foss fanatics, are either fsf camp, or just in general. The FSF camp, are particularly fanatical. They can be seen in emacs dev community, which i wallow in since 1998 and still.

very nasty things, done by rms, even today, recent months, are considered as nasty even by FSF emacs dev adherents.

open source, is a spin off of fsf, around 1997, by esr et al, to appease and water down rms's ideology, as to make it more compatible with commercial world. The two, were at war, and still are. rms gets very offended if u call his work as open source.

as i think we discussed before, so, well, we could try to be scientific. But most things in society, there's no scientific study. But one can make some conclusion, by, say, statistically query large group of people...

but with the organized and label and legal license, and it turns into an ideology. That's the source of harm.

Then, now you say, it's ok to write software x as FSF/OpenSource, and write Y closed source to make money.
That's incompatible. That is hypocrisy. You don't see it, because , well, as most ideology holders, don't see the problem of ideology.

this is another hypocrisy, the chant about free as bear vs freedom.

if you write open source software and sell it, other will copy and sell it for less, repeat. Thus, no money.

this also explains, google, apple's etc's sneaky tactics, where, chrome and macOS etc claim to be open source, but impossible for mortal to make it a product.

the end effect of Open Source and FSF, after 30 years, is not enpowering individuals, but concentrate power into corps, and eliminate any who tried to write software independently.

@jeremiah @SLRock the person, who works at google/facebook etc closed source shop, and write github opensource at night, is the biggest hypocrisy. It basically eliminates any who tried to write software as independent person. It concentrate power to mega corps.

@jeremiah @SLRock but those are actually part of the FOSS. that is, fanatics, nutcases, and corps in it for the money and public relations.

there is FOSS before Free Software Foundation and Open Source initiative existed. That is, good will. And is practiced widely in scientists, sans any license stuff.
