#myartgotbetter over time. Slowly as I practiced. After every class, every intensive, in the days, weeks, and months that followed as I thought about what I had done and learned and as I tried new things. The work gets better the more you do it, as long as you keep thinking about it and tinkering with it. Do the exact same thing 1000 times and you will be able to do that exact thing in that exact way, do 1000 variations on a thing and magic happens.
And some days, you refresh the gaff tape on your stilts, reminding you that this circus is much like any other theater project. Held together with gaff and determination.
This is something we actively teach. Our #juggling class for kids is called "Drop Stuff Academy" because if you're not dropping things, you're not #learning. I point out to the kids that the same theory applies to everything. You're going to mess up, you're likely to look a bit stupid, and you end up knowing more for it. We also are actively against the sentence "I can't do that", insisting on adding "yet" to the end of it. #teaching#circus#lifelessons
I recently had it pointed out to me that I should do an #introductions post! So hi! I'm a clown, stiltwalker, juggler, musician, starting to work on some acrobatics, and I work for a #circus (circusfreaks.org) I have a BA in German, and am hoping to start practicing speaking with people more often in German. I was invited to come and try out Mastadon by @RussSharek and have been enjoying it thus far.
