@agaric it very obviously is. I get notes like "will buy a flat in this house" all the time, all are "handwritten" and all are fake, coming from real estate agents everyone hates. They don't even bother to write it by hand and copy, if nothing else. Or cut the paper by hand. Or anything authentic. It's so insulting, zero effort.

@anymouse_404 no, I only do that on rural line buses when the driver forgets about my obscure stop (it happens).

@karen Don't tell anyone, but I think Engelbert Humperdinck (yes, that's a name) was amazing.

I mean, it's ridiculous and horrible in a sense, but that's the point of eurovision after all.

@vfrmedia There is one huge thing here, garden colonies (also known in Germany tbh). Huge spaces privatized and illogically fenced to a ridiculous extent. No way to get through.

A place like this.

@vfrmedia Streetview ("panorama" as they call it) was I think bit of a vanity project. The company loves to project itself as a Google competitor, so they had to try it. the pictures are not very good, much worse stitching than GMaps, and it took 5 years to get to sort of full coverage. It's, of course, CZ only. But it doesn't hurt me to have another set of pics.

@vfrmedia No, it's a small town, it doesn't get crowded. And if you're on foot, you would use the stairs, no need to go around. It gets worse a bit further where the sidewalk is more narrow and people bike on it and... well. The place itself is more or less fine I guess. However, there are others in the town that don't even have a sidewalk at all. It's a mixed bag.

@vfrmedia The bridge is less than 10 years old, so it's all built with new standards (and with a generous help from the EU structural funds). Cycling is quite big there, but it always was, it's not because of the new infra. Actually, I think they should have done more and better, it'd be perfectly justified given how many people were already cycling.

@vfrmedia It's a local clone of google maps (it's a company where I worked for some time), they're buying cartographic data from the local providers. They are even using OSM to show places outside of CZ. I don't really like the app too much and their pictures aren't very good, but in this particular instance, they are bit newer, so they show the stairs to the bridge. They are missing on the older GMaps pictures.

@vfrmedia Drunkenness, ignoring the surrounding, hurrying to catch up a different train... And to a large extent, it's just blatant carelessness. Like, here.
This is a place with frequent accidents. Last time, I saw there three perfectly healthy young guys who just couldn't be bothered to cross over the bridge. Why? I just don't know. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would ever do that.

@vfrmedia Yes they do. We used to take a shortcut over the tracks every day, coming from school. Every now and then, the local council made a new fence, none lasted for more than few days. People just wanted to go through there. Were there some incidents? Well, yes, but not that many actually.
And of course, it's a culture. If you get hit by a train here somewhere outside of a crossing (or a closed one), they just put you in a plastic bag, put "your fault" in the police report and done.

@vfrmedia Surely not, compared to like CZ, PL or even AT, I don't think there are very many of them. It's just that the UK takes it maybe bit too seriously? Also, it's bit weird. Suicides don't usually happen at official crossings, or well, at least, I never heard about any like that.
I guess it's more of a UK thing. Their fences and walls and everything. Probably a way they want it.
