if you're a trans woman or trans feminine non-binary person there's a long-term study recruiting right now on trans feminine health and it compensates $250 spread out in 6 month intervals of $50. Https://litestudy.org
Something really wonderful is singing together as a community. Just like... for fun! I know a lot of people associate that with Summer Camp but like idk it's super fun and it costs nothing. We do it a lot in Jewish spaces and I also encountered it in Unitarian spaces and I just think it's super lovely.
Another free thing you can do is dancing. As individuals and as social dances like Square, Contra, and Salsa.
Also, for non-social activities, I highly recommend going for walks on a nice sunny day :3
Google has recently started automatically importing information from Google+ profiles into the contacts app on android (Google Contacts) based searching for accounts tied to that phone number. This information is comprehensive and can't be deleted by the user.
If you have an old Google+ profile laying around from pre-transition, then any old emails etc. containing your dead name might have been imported into the contacts of everyone who has your phone number for any reason
Momentum has died down on our campaign to help four families of color in West Philly who were scammed out of housing and all the money; but the campaign doesn't end until Tomorrow at 8:00pm. We've raised a good amount but we could still make a bigger impact by raising more! If we can raise $8250 then there will be more remaining after GoFundMe subtracts their fees and it will make it easier to find housing within budget quicker
I wrote a thread on twitter contextualizing why wil was driven off mastodon in case you're interesting. tl;dr he like, made trans people homeless and destroyed lives materially. not just a run of the mill insensitive bigot.
eco-capitalism is impossible. capitalism demands growth. To devote ourselves to working together to end capitalism and shift to a new way of living where we are protectors and stewards of life on earth rather than a cancer destroying the eco-system... what else could it be?
The Occupy movement likewise struggled due to this:
1. They did risk negative consequences 2. When the media distorted and ignored their demands, it broke any effectiveness they could have 3. All they really did was symbolically live in parks. They didn't actually shut down the wall street firms by occupying their buildings. It was a symbolic gesture exclusively as besides Being Kinda Noisy they didn't impede anything.
Compare and contrast to the recent action in PDX where they surrounded the ICE HQ completely and blocked off the only garage exit and would *not* allow cars to exit the building; completely impeding operations, risking arrest, and forcing the facility to shut down.
1. They absolutely risked negative consequences 2. This would have worked regardless of if the media paid attention 3. They materially shut down the facility. It was not exclusively about attention, ideas, or symbols; though they did employ it
3 considerations for any political action: 1. If your action couldn't possibly have negative consequences for you, it is of no consequence 2. If your action requires media attention to have any impact, it has no impact. 3. Working in the realm of ideas and symbols is not worthless, but working exclusively at that level is.

Hey cis allies here's how you can help the fight for trans rights :)
Me in 2014: Use our pronouns! Give your own pronouns in your email signatures to normalize it! Correct other cis people on misgendering!! :) It's easy;
"hi trans siblings! i've created an informal survey about how we chose our names! i'm curious why and what the distribution looks like & will share results. it's 10 questions and < 5mins. please fill this out, RT & share w/ friends & on other platforms!"
And at the bottom is survival and as it goes up itās like levels of dedicating yourself to fixing the world
And like oh yeah you gotta survive and cope in order to be able to fight back
But capitalism survives by constantly keeping the majority of people under that line; so that youāre always barely surviving and donāt have the energy or resources to fight back.
"This phone is too fragile after I took the screen protector off" this is like the people who comment on recipes that the brownies weren't sweet enough after they didn't add any sugar
The reason friends and therapists are best kept distinct is to avoid codependency.
Codependency most often takes the form of two people taking on roles of caretaker and care-receiver; where not only is the recipient of care dependent the specific caregiver, but the caregiver is dependent on the feeling of usefulness and validation they get from taking care of the other. This is very toxic as it means problems rarely actually get resolved
I jest but in all seriousness I'm definitely gonna be the parent that gets called into a parent-teacher conference because my future kid is telling the other kids that santa is a classist construct which normalizes surveillance and teaches kids that the socioeconomic hierarchy is justified by the people on top being better and more moral while the people on the bottom are all just naughty and misbehaving.
