Thought: why aren't more instances co-ops? Often it's one or two mods just running stuff cuz.... they just are... but what if cybre.space or wxcafe or any other major instance decided to institute some sort of shared ownership or at least shared governance structure? I feel like we're all "oh yeah co-op instances are cool" but then just kinda leave things in our current way which is like... mostly a semi-feudal system
Good youtubers to check out for this stuff (in no particular order) are: * Peter Coffin * Thoughtslime * BadMouseProductions * Mexie * ContraPoints (or at least.... some of her stuff) * GwenNoFear * Kat Blaque * anactualjoke * PhilosophyTube (also the host is SO hot ^^;;) * TheRulesOrg (actually funded by george soros lmao but good stuff) * Xexizy
I don't endorse everything these ppl believe and many of them disagree with each other, but they do good explaining Theory concepts
and if you do decide you want to read Theory most of the classic texts people read are available for free on https://theanarchistlibrary.org and often there are even audiobook versions
Youtube is also FULL of people making videos summarizing various Theory ideas. I haven't actually read *that* much theory I mostly listen to podcasts and youtube videos where people summarize theory. Take a concept you wanna learn about, plunk it into youtube, you'll find Someone I'm sure
if you ever feel "stupid" for "not knowing stuff about politics" or not knowing Theory just remember that the only difference between you and someone who ""knows stuff"" is they've spent time learning about it (possibly because their life gave them access to spend a lot of time reading about it) it's not because you're stupid; and you could just as easily get there AND AND AND you don't need to know Theory to understand politics and make sound decisions and think through what you believ
I often tell friends who are struggling to put food on their plate they should apply for SNAP or go to the food bank
They often reply that they don't want to take it from the people who really need it
Friends, if your bank account is zilch and you're begging online for donations to buy food, you're the people who really need it. It's for you. I only ever got myself out of poverty by taking advantage of every social service available.
(Reinhard Heydrich chaired the meeting and proposed the death camps, if you're curious)
So like. Hitler's a bastard, but he's one bastard among a massive cohort of bastards.
So today, on 4/20, reflect on the other bastards we blame for everything and how simply getting rid of them isn't going to solve all the problems. Our current problems exist before and without Trump and impeaching him won't end them. It's *systemic* change that's needed
Zooming out and becoming more abstract, individual bastards like Hitler, Trump, Mussolini, Tojo, etc. aren't the source of violence and fucked up shit. They happen to be the faces of the *systems* which enact that violence. They're fucking bastards but without any one of them some other bastard would take their place. The material conditions, ideologies, and systems are not created by individuals alone. The idea to Do a Genocide didn't start with Hitler. The "final solution" wasn't even his idea
a major component of antisemitism is the idea that we are suspicious, up to something, conspiring. Often we're the target of conspiracy theories which end up being the major justification for violence against us
Another major historical Bad Thing is when the white people in england or europe or wherever have conversations among each other about what to do about these suspicious jews
if what you're doing is resembling these things STOP cuz that's uhhh dangerous to us
USA Loves Free Speech except in 1940 with the passage of the Smith Act; which made it illegal advocate for revolution, imply revolution would be good, or be affiliated with organizations which talk about revolution.
This law is actually still on the books it's just been weakened so that you can advocate/teach revolution "as an abstract concept" but can't advocate for "specific actions to overthrow the government which pose a legitimate threat"
This year is the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Holocaust Remembrance Day is specifically the day on the Hebrew calendar of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the largest act of resistance of Jews against Nazi Germany. The German response was to burn the entire ghetto block by block, killing 13k Jews and 300 Germans.
The start to HaShoah, which would result in the death of 11,202,500 people. Eleven million, two hundred and two thousand, five hundred
Please donāt try to get drunk off of flavor extracts or rubbing alcohol
Just get someone who is 21 to commit a misdemeanor for you.
Fireball, Franzia, Mad Dog 20s/MD20, and vodka are like super cheap just slip your friend who is 21 a tenner as a gift and then be pleasantly surprise by their gift of affordable booze.
Itās really not that hard and wonāt taste like shit or make you go blind
The Pioneer Valley Democratic Socialists are fundraising to do free breaklight repair clinics in Springfield, MA; the 2nd most impoverished municipality in Massachusetts, where ICE and racist cops are rampant
Repairing breaklights gives cops one less excuse to pull over black and/or undocumented people to subject them to violence and/or incarceration
Passover Gothic: You just finished explaining the orange on the seder plate, the olive on the seder plate, the pineapple on the seder plate, the tomato on the seder plate, the beet on the seder plate, you turn the page of your haggadah... "Why this year do we put b̻̱̦lĶĢĢoĶ Ģ¤ĶĢ®Ķo̬ĶĢĢÆĶĶd̼ĢĢÆĶ Ķ Ģ»Ģ¬Ģ¼Ķon the seder plate?"
